Good to see pictures of your gold '72 again, Anssi!  Both Montes look great!

Thanks for sharing the link to the Nitro Nationals.  I see my friend Jimmy Alund from Sweden was there again competing in both Pro Mod with Old '51 and Pro Stock with the Summit Camaro.  He won both classes at the 2018 Nitro Nationals there in Finland, but I haven't seen any results posted yet (in English) for this year's event.  I've read that Jimmy is trying to win the European championship in both Pro Mod and Pro Stock this year.  Hope he did well in Finland. It's amazing to me how many American muscle cars there are in Scandinavia!

I met Jimmy at a car show in Punta Gorda, Florida several years ago and he tuned my '70 4-speed Monte for me at his home in Port Charlotte.

    Hi,

Now that is an interesting thing! Especially Jimmy´s tuning of Your Monte, wow!

Seems that the result pages at European Drag Race are not responding just now...

Fortunately You can find the results of Jimmy Alund from the Finnish Hot Rod Association´s discussion page just by scrolling down. Unfortunately seems that Jimmy did have some technical issues if You look at his times and speeds (km/h) in Pro Stock group. Same in Pro Mod´s semifinal...

  2. Thanks for nice comments! Owners are both members of First Generation Monte Carlo Club, no worries! Only "family" to each other through these cars. And yes, there is quite active US car tradition in Finland e.g. monthly cruises in Helsinki (capital of Finland), Some photos from Helsinki cruising event July 5th 2019

Some drag race activities from these days; European Drag Race Championsihp days are going on in Finland this weekend by Finnish Hot Rod Association (FHRA). See some pictures: Nitro Nationals

  3. Hi all,

Apologies for this "kitchen English" and hello from Finland, Europe!

I am restoring my Monte piece by piece and an original Delco FM radio is waiting for installation. It would be a great help if someone had the connector to the radio. All the harness is not needed just this connector which will connect the wires to the radio, see the attached picture where the connector is needed.

If anyone has any links where to buy or has this part I would be very interested in buying this needed part.

    Best Regards,

  4. Thanks Doug,

I´ll try with Your instruction. There has been every once and a while this kind of problem. Few times few gentle knocks on hood have helped but now seems to be tight stuck. Night has just come to Finland so I´ll try to solve this problem tomorrow or later on next week...

Perhaps the latch can be opened under the car/ bumper, let´s see...

  5. Hi,

Sorry if I am posting to the wrong section but I have an annoying problem with the hood latch. The mechanism seems to work ok when looked through the grille but unfortunately it does not open the hood - not to even pop to the wind hook position.

Is there some good advice how shall I tackle this problem?

That darn shift indicator wire, after having my dash out 3 times prior, I forgot and broke the wire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good luck take your time.

    Hi,

Here is another wire broker... so easy to uninstall, so easy to forgot -> nasty one to replace.

  7. Dear friends,

What do You recommend as a good place to buy this flexible circuit board? In Rockauto it is out of stock... And I do need some web shopping due to the fact that this is needed to deliver to Finland, Europe.

    Thanks,

    Anssi

  8. Wow,

Thank You all for Your advises. Before looking the details of all posts thanks!

    Mike; thanks for the pictures!

Bruce: the link is just fine!

Here is another picture of some tube replacement within these 44 years of this car.

I guess I try to put this carb either back to original form or at least to a tidier shape. Will be back when the project continues. Cruising weathers are back in Finland!

Might ease in getting the whole picture of this issue if I´ll take some live camera picture to Youtube - I´ll do that probably later on this week.

    Thanks again,

    Anssi
