  1. Thanks guys!!! Sounds like I have some thinking to do! I don't know how much free way driving il be doing but i am going to drive this car!!! So it needs to be able to handle it. Thanks for all the info.
  2. My transmission is a TH350. Im planning on sticking with it unless i find out it's no good also. But from what i have seen it's in decent shape. The problem is... I have NEVER takin this car on the road other than on and off trailers. I want to be able to cruise at 65/70 mph without stopping at every gas station. Im running a 350 S/B. Should i stick with 3:73's or look into something else?
  3. hey guys, i recently found out everything in my rear end is junk. ok, not junk but many teeth are missing on ring and pinion. So im using this as my excuse to upgrade to a posi with 3:73 gears. My question is... when buying these is there anything specific i need to know? i have a 12 bolt currently and everything im finding that fits the car is for a 10 bolt. All of the 12 bolt posi kits im finding are listed for trucks. Is this because i have a trucks rear end? or im just not finding the right kit? Is there a big difference between a 10 and 12 bolt kit? btw.. when i say kit.. i mean its a kit that comes with gm eaton posi, gears, and bearings. I am a rookie when it comes to this stuff so any help would be awesome! thanks in advance!!

  5. I have a parts car that is sitting in the weeds next to my house that i am thinking about turning into a performance beast! I want to use as much off of the old car as i can. The plan is to start with the frame and build from frame up. Im wanting to use a an LS3 new crate motor with all new suspension and what not. My question is weather or not i can use that stock 70 monte carlo frame for that or if i need to beef it up or what. Im hoping to get roughly 400+ hp out of motor. In other words... i dont want to get it all together and stomp on accelerator and twist the chassis... Any help will be grateful! thanks guys!
  6. yeah i do have that step off valve on my car. My car is a 70. so maybe i need that proportioning valve directly off the m.c. I have the one that's on the frame below the m.c. so you guys think it's that step off valve or the possibly missing proportioning valve off the mc?

  8. my first paragraph was confuzing. Basically what im saying is. first 2 times i bled brakes i had fluid coming out. but rear brakes didn't work. so i went to bled a 3rd time and didn't get any fluid at all.
  9. Hey guys, i finally got my brake lines on. and of course i stumbled across another problem. If it went perfectly everyone would rebuild cars i guess. anyway, i am not getting fluid back to the rear drums. I bled them twice and both times i got fluid out in the back. I checked my brakes and im getting no stopping power from rear. when i jack up the rear end and put it in gear the wheels start spinning but when i hit the brake they dont stop. front brakes work fine! 5 years ago when i first got the car i just started ripping everything out in plans to buy new. I took out original brake booster and master cylinder and replaced with new one couple years ago. i dont remember if the original had a proportioning valve coming off the m.c. or not. so i didnt' put one on the new setup. Could this be the problem? With that being said, i have fluid coming out the distribution block on the frame heading towards the rear but it seems like there is not enough pressure. i dont know. Any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks guys for the info. The reason i thought about putting it on the firewall is because my firewall is shaved with nothing on it but m.c and wiper motor. But it sounds like the way to go is underneath on the frame. Il give it a shot and see what happens.
  11. hey guys, i just bought an aluminum cylinder tranny cooler. If i am using a tranny cooler do i have to run my lines thru my radiator also? and is there certain distance i have to keep my cooler away from my transmission? i am wanting to mount it on my firewall. Will that get too hot? im running 2 10 in electric fans. any help would be grateful. Thanks!
  12. thanks guys! after looking over all my lines i decided to go ahead and order new lines for the whole car. i figure there is probably another line bad or about to have problems so i said screw it and just got all new. yeah i knew about the line wrenches but dont have a set. i didn't know how often i would use them so i never got any. i guess i just need to suck it up and get some. sounds like they will save my alot of time and anger. lol
  13. hey guys, i went to bleed my brakes and found a leak in my driver side back line. i tried getting it off with a wrench but wasn't workin for me. are these a certain connection that a wrench wont work on or was it just because of the grease buildup? any help would be awesome! thanks

  15. bruce, that sounds very familiar. is that something i need to be getting? like i said i have no clue about anything with motor or trans. i am a body man. also, how do i go about getting some cooler lines, and i know where they go in the transmission.. but where does the other ends go.
  16. Hey guys, first of all before i ask my question.. I want you all to know i am a newbie at all this stuff and trying my hardest to learn the ends and outs of car building. I absolutely messing with this stuff but dont always know what things are or what they do. So with that being said, i noticed there were 2 holes on the upper side of my tranny. i was wondering what goes in there. also, i noticed on a friends, that his had wires coming from those spots. what exactly do these go to and what are they? its a th350. anything will help! thankyou
  17. hey guys, im looking for a set of fenders for a 70. i found many new fiberglass ones for sale but was hoping someone had some original ones. i really only need a passenger side fender, but if i find both id probably take them. i am not expecting them to be in perfect condition but i would like to do as little body work as possible. i am located in illinois. if anyone knows of anything please let me know! thanks

  22. hey guys recently i have put my motor and tranny along with driveshaft in my car. the shift linkage between steering column and tranny are hooked up. i went to load car on trailor and when i turned it on and put it in gear nothing happened. its an automative and tried reverse as well as drive and nothing happened. what did i forget to do?
