Yeah, I mean the grille isnt really all that bad, like I said theres the split on the side, but for $10 I wasnt going to pass it up. I'm think of trying JB Weld or 5 min. epoxy on it just to see if it'll hold it for the time being. I wish I needed more parts, I would have loaded up on a bunch today. I think I'll be going back tom. for a 12-bolt posi for my dads 64 Impala. If you guys can think of something youre looking for Ill check on it tomorrow.
Oh and the grill I didnt get was really bad, the top chrome was either broken or missing, the bars going across the grille were broken, bent or gone, but the emblem was good so I saved that.

I went to check out the 71s today and there were quite a few good parts eventhough the cars were in pretty poor shape. I bought 1 71 grille, the 2nd grill was a mess, the 1 I ended up with is very nice except for the side of it is split at the seam wherr the chrome is the thickest. He had some decent bumpers, some glass, good head light ext, good doors, hoods, seats were all shot for the most part, seat belts were decent, rally wheels mismatched but there, I ended up with the 71 grille, a glove box door, 2 71 Monte Carlo grille emblems, and a 70 AM radio. All for $10. If anyone knows how to fix the problem with the grille it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response. Im going to stop over at this guys house and see what he has. He said he has 1 really nice grille, so if the price is right I may pick it up and throw it on my car for the time being.

A guy that lives very close to me is parting out 2 71 Montes, I have a 70, but I am going to look at them and see if there is anything I can use. I know there are plenty of differences between the 2 yrs, but as far as dash pads, radios ( I know theyre diff colored), mirrors, AC vents, dome light cover, moulding & trim, these parts should be fairly easy to put in from yr to yr, correct?
Also, I know that the 70 and 71 grills are different, but will a 71 fit a 70 Monte, so I can put something in there until I get my new grill.
If anyone is looking for anything let me know and I will see what I can do.

Thats too bad then. I was hoping to find one, my car doesnt have anything rare or special, but I thought it would be neat to chechk it out.

Hi, I am curious as to where the build sheet would be located on my 70 Monte Carlo from the Flint plant. I have seen and heard several stories of people finding them under the back seat, under the carpet, etc. I am curious as to where they were located from the Flint plant.
EDIT- I am also curious about a 70 with NO radio. Was this an option? Did the car come with a delete plate then??

When I redid my 1972 trunk using black aqua with a spray gun vs. rattle can paint, I had to let it set up about 2 weeks before I put anything on the trunk floor. It was a water base paint and the cure time required the trunklid to remain open and breath for that period of time to ensure a good bond and cure. It has been over a year since done and looks as new as when repainted. Of course, if you take this approach, don't forget to disconnect the trunk light bulb in the interim or you will have a surprise like I did!!
Did you clear coat it or are you going to? It does look great though!

Black aqua on my 70 too, I'm in the middle of redoing my trunk as we speak. So far so good.

He had all the molding and trim from 1 and for the most part everything was solid and straight. Door panels, arm rests, and seat belts were there. Im going to make a list tonite and maybe head over there tom. morning and see what I can pick up.
