  1. trying to rebuild my rearend. Its an 8.2 10 bolt and i'm having nothing but trouble. bought a posi unit on ebay wrong size ring gear bolt holes. bought a bearing kit for 8.2 and the shims aren't right and neither are the pinion seal or nut. I bought the chevy stuff not the BOP so I'm not sure what the issue is here unless someone put a BOP 8.2 in my car b4 I got it.

  2. I swapped out my automatic for a T10 4spd and now my speedo cable is too short and the spot where it goes in the tranny is on the other side. Do I need to order a custom cable or is this a common fix?

  3. I've thrown around the idea of making spoiler peices for the fender extensions but I'm pretty sure the nascar montes only had the center section. As far as mounting I would have to insert studds into the fiberglass during the molding process. I welded them on the metal one. The nice part about only doing the center section is that the spoiler would then work on the chevelle and skylark as well. The cost would really depend on the cost of supplies and time it would take to make them. Of course the first one is the hardest. I guess the question is whether or not theres enough market for it?

  4. I didn't even think about the flash speed I'll have to tackle that problem in a week or so when I get to the wiring. I couldn't get a good seal between the old lense and new lense so it was just easier to cut out the old lense and split the ring so it fit in the grove on the new lights. I was afraid of moisture forming between the lenses if I put them on top of each other. It would depend on the set of lights purchased as how to mate the old to the new. I'm sure with some fabrication you could probably use the entire peice so that the light looked stock from the outside.

  5. I found the answer on the team camaro forums. Apparently the pumpkin casting for all 8.5s have two squareish/triangular nubs that stick out at about 5 and 7 oclock along with 4 humps around where the axle tubes are pressed in on both sides that the 8.2s do not have. Also they say that if the yolk has U bolts to hold the drive shaft instead of bolts and straps that its not an 8.5 Hopefully this info helps anyone else who needs to know. 8.2s apparently where common from 1965-1970 and unfortunately thats what I got. So now I gotta find a posi unit and good gears.

  6. My 70 monte has a non posi 10 bolt and I'm looking to get a posi unit for it but not sure if its 7.5 or 8.5 it appears to be the original rear axle. I'm sure you guys know what came in these cars or can atleast tell me what I'm looking for. lol I want to run 3.73 or 4.10 gears haven't decided yet.
