  1. I say to each is own, the wheels look good but I am a huge fan on the rally wheels. For me they are the best rim well the 8in wide ones are the better ones, although I don't have mine on yet. I still run the 7in ones. Car looks good for sure like I said even if they are not my choice.

  2. I have the Wheel Vintiques on my daily driver...I have not had any issues with them, This is my second set of these I had( had a set on my 91 Full size pick up) on that truck they eneded up replacing a wheel for me IT WAS OUT OF ROUND. When I had the tires put on had a vibration that they could not fix. I contacted vintiques the first set I had I bought directly through them so I only dealt with them. They said it is unusual but it can happen. They actually sent me a new wheel before I took the other one off had the tire installed no vibration. Other than that one issue their wheels have been good to me

  3. cudax, No he did not trim the wheel wells. Only reason I know is after he said it I looked. No cut metal..my only problem with his look is the fronts are 15x8's with the standard "vette rally" offset. So the fronts look like deep dish the rears look like a 7" rally.....But they do fit....

  4. I replaced my rear springs a couple years ago and what I found out( the springs from autozone do not have the moog name on the box but are made by moog and even has the same part number as moog) anyway This time around I replaced with the Cargo Coil CC501's brings it back to correct height with the added for putting the kids in the car or loading the trunk. Back in the 80's when I replaced I went with a rear spring from an Old's Vista Cruiser wagon and it gave about 1.5-2 inches of lift.

  5. My car has the edelbrock on it and it will be gone in the spring. I am going back to a q-jet as soon as I order the Cliff Ruggles rebuild kit. I have been reading his book on rebuilding it and it will be going on in the spring. I have always like q-jets and the more i drive with the edelbrock on it the more i dont like it...

  6. Yeah there is something about the Q-Jet sound...the only thing my car is missing, I will be rebuilding one this winter and getting it on the car first thing in the spring. The car has a edelbrock square bore and I don't like it...I am hoping to call Cliff Ruggles and ordering his kit and any extras he recommends. I shipped him an email on sunday figuring smoeone would answer my prilim questions on monday, but no Cliff himself answered my email about 2 hours after I sent it on sunday. Now that is the kind of service I like to see. Once the Q-Jet is on I will be flipping the cover over just to have fun with those large secondaries opening...I'm with ya there VE, the sound makes me giggle...

  7. On Saturday(after a good wash and waxing on thurs last week) decided to take her to a car show I found out about on thurs also. Well out of 10 or so cars in the 70-80's class I took second place in the class. Then went to a local cruise night after that, ran into a guy with a white and blue(interior) 71 SS that he has owned since 88. well after talking to him and asking about his rims telling him I would like to get a set of Vette Rally's for my 72 he said I have a set at home, they were on his car when he bought it and took them off less than a year ago for the chrome rallys he has now. After a short talk about the rims asked him what he was doing with them and if he would like to sell them. He said sure, 75 bucks with a decent set of rings on them...well I gave him 100 because he brought them to me this morning at work...lets just say a little blasting and new paint new tires and yes I am set.....Sorry I got long winded

  8. Been going to a few of the cruise nights since I get the trans back in her. First one is a very well known cruise night back in the mid 70'2 thru the 80's closed down by the pd due to the punks street racing...well it is up and running and a ot of the oldtimers(on man I am included in that and only 46) had a guy offer to buy my car....went to an new one last night at the tilted kilt and low and behold 2 other monte's both 71's one a triple black SS his aunt was the original owner( he should be joining the club soon) and a red one the guy has owned it since 79...we are starting to become more popular...

  9. Well I posted a couple days ago putting the trans back in her and bathing her and taking her out for a spin, well the bath and spin never happened. I had a issue and she didn't want to seem right so I went around the block once and parked her and got a hold of my trans guy. He made it over today and seems the prior onwer had a shift kit installed and he didn't acount for that, put in a plate that covered some hholes that needed to be open. He fixed it we topped her off with fluid and man does she shift nice. Now I just need to run the gunk out of the carb so she runs smoother...so a bath and a nice ride is in her near future.....

  10. There has never been an issue for me jacking it up that way....but more what I see here is I would NEVER do that with the car running and no jack stands under the frame...that kind of plan is what keeps me working(fire/medic)HAHAHAHA....I have been fighting a leak for the last year it only leaks in reverse but last night I my ride home, ummmm looks like I will be pulling the trans friday) she started to act up in 3rd about 4 blocks from home....good thing I have a good and cheap for the most part trans guy....best friend of my son said he would rebuild completely for cost of parts...yey for me all that giving to my kid may pay off for me for a change....lol

  11. Gave her a proper hand bath...for those in the chigao area...radio host Dick Biondi)WLS FM is hosting a car show at a Chevy dealer on June 11th and I put my car up on their website and they asked me to be in the show, I guess it is by invite only) so 5 hours later...I decided all that work meant I could take her for a long drive today...I love my girl....

  12. Wow, I am glad I was running around in the website today...mine has an edelbrock on her now she is missing something I so loved with my first...the nice fuel when running normal with her and then that AWESOME growl of the Q-Jet, when the secondary's are sucking air. I just worked a del wiith RIznitch for the one off his 72 custom and well while he said it was rebuilt a year ago and recommends I should have it reubuilt I will be running to Barnes and noble today because their website says they have this book in stock. If this book is as good as Mark rates it I may do the rebuld myself.. Thank You..and thanks again Rich for the carb...

  13. Sam that car is absolutely beautiful still. I liked that car the first time I saw her and she just makes me more envious every time I see her....AWESOME job on the work done that is a lot of work...
