Hi Dan,
So sorry to hear of your loss.
Hope your daughter is doing well.
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Very nice work on the Monte!
It's nice to have something to take your mind off of things.
One of these days I'll have to hop in mine and drive up for a visit.
Heck, I'm getting almost 13 mpg, won't cost that much for the trip.

Got to take her for a spin Saturday.
Although I wasn't nailing them hard, the brakes seemed to work great.
By the way, this is what I have up front with stock calipers.
With these pads.
-
These are what I put on my car on the rear, have factory front disc.
Hopefully will get to take her for a test ride this weekend.
The guy doing my car had no problems installing them that I know of and has driven the car himself with no issues.
Don't know as he's really slammed on them yet.

Tanks revisited...
Hi all, I am now hunting a new tank for my Monte.
I have seen 17 and 20 gallon listings. I'm not sure which is correct, or if it's a discrepancy in what they consider "full".
A couple I am looking at are:
Dixie Monte Carlo Depot (GM Licensed)
Any current recommendations?
Tanks,
Dennis

I have Gorilla locking nuts on my truck in black. Every nut is a locking nut. They look great.

This is the company I got mine from.
They come bagged for use in conjunction with the assembly manual. The guy doing my car said it was pretty handy.
Note: At time of this post their site was down for maintenance.

Here's the one I saw on Ebay the other day.
$600.00 local pickup in Springfield, PA.
It's rough, but it's there.
-
Wow Aaron, that's a really sharp Monte!
That purple looks very nice!

From Ebay: NOS GM Chevelle/Monte Carlo Kickdown Cable
Not necessarily cheap, but it is new GM.

Hi Mike,
I went with P255/60R/15 all around. This is the size the guy doing my car is running on his Monte.
I ordered them from here Tire Buyer.com . They had free shipping when I ordered mine. Great customer service too. UPS lost one and they immediately sent another.

My Monte's not back on the road yet, but I went with the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.
I asked for opinions here as well and also read a lot of comments via Google searching. Then I went to Tire Rack, Tire Rack, and did comparisons as well as read the customer reviews. When I bought mine the choice was pretty much BFG T/As, Goodyear Eagle GT IIs, or Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s. Based on the ratings and reviews I went with the Firestones, white letter in. They ranked the best of the three overall.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody!
A new plan has been formulated.
I bought a pair of mirrors from about a '78 Cutlass and my body guy is going to modify them to fit.
Will post pics when he gets them done.
Going to paint in the not so distant future!

Revisiting the sport mirrors...
I ordered mine from The Parts Place at the end of December.
I still haven't received them and they still can't give a date when they will be available so I gave up and canceled my order . The last thing I wanted was to forget about the order and then have a $400 pair of mirrors show up out of the blue a year from now.
I have decided to go with the chrome remote driver's mirror with the matching passenger mirror. They seem to be a little easier to come by and I hope to be ordering them soon.

Ya I'm going to cut it tonight or 2 marw ill postt some pics of how I do it
If you don't post pics you still have deniability.
Remember, no pics, it didn't happen.
-
Great reading.
Makes me worry about when I get my Monte back on the road.
-
By the way, here are pics of the mirrors I got from www.bulletmirror.com
I would guess they are Cutlass mirrors? They stated they were for 70-72 Chevelles and Monte Carlos. They tried correcting the angle with the gasket and failed miserably.
Returned them for a refund.
-
i purchased these mirrors a few years back and they did not fit!
its a big hassle returning them and i had to pay the return shipping. the ad is dishonest because he already knows that they will not fit properly.im sure im not the only person that had to return them.
they where not even close to fitting as they sat inside the glass.could not roll the window up.
unless they have changed something i would not waste my time with them.
dennis,
im not in a hurry since the car is put away for the winter.please post some pics and details on fit if you get them.

Maybe a few more will jump with your critique.

Will do guys.
I ordered my stuff 12/28/10 and haven't received any further information on when they will be shipping.

Thanks Mike.
They look great, but I am still wanting both sides.
I jumped off the cliff this week and ordered mine from The Parts Place.
Hopefully they sit right and are of good quality.
-
It's even deeper than "Darth black".
Ahhhh, but can this one resist "The Force"?
-
Thanks Mike!
Of course the kicker is I want both sides.
And The Parts Place knows exactly how to get ya where it hurts.
They only sell them as a set.
One would think they would sell the right one seperately, even if it was for a couple of hundred bucks. They would surely move them to the folks with the driver side only mirror.

I was putting together the 12 bolt for the 68 Velle so I thought I would grease my camera for you all.
Started out with a seasoned 72 Monte 3.08 peg leg housing. Pressure washed it and painted it Satan black.
Yikes, ya might want to consider having that thing blessed before you go driving.
-
Thanks Guys!
I'll probably order mine this week.
Got an email coupon from The Parts Place for 10% off.
Of course it probably doesn't apply to the mirrors.
-
I am looking into the Parts Place mirrors as well. I am probably going to order a set within the next month.
Beware those ones you saw on Ebay.
I think it is the same place I had bought a pair from before.
I'm guessing they were Cutlass or something else. They had the really thick gasket trying to correct the angle. Didn't work, looked terrible, sent them back.

All I can say is beware of AGR Performance stuff.
I installed their 12:1 Resto steering box (Summit p/n 492117) and "High Performance" power steering pump (Summit p/n AGR-806324).
After I got the car on the road the power steering pump started leaking and howling like a very unhappy cat.
I called Summit but it was past the 90 day warranty.
AGR said they'd rebuild it for around $100 including shipping with about 1 week turnaround.
Finally got it back a month later.
Damn thing had blasting media in it and a badly chewed up shaft.
Long story short, had to buy another pump from elsewhere.
Been fighting these idiots to get my rebuild money back for over three months.
Will be contacting Better Business Bureau, Summit, and possibly Texas AG.
If you go to BB site, they have a F rating, lots of complaints.
Supposedly they were the go-to-guys right before I did my car, then they were bought out and went downhill.
