Very Nice!
Economical or not, here is the Monte Carlo Prototype:I think it looks S W E E T.....
The 71 Chevelle grille sells for $199 & shipping. I am talking to the company about a group purchase for us....

You talking about me. Ha Ha - Mike G "The Knight is a bridge between the idealism of youth and the wisdom that comes only with experience."

I found a picture of the seller Ron. He is also a french model.
It must be true if its on the internet It sounds like he has delt with someone from this club before doubting the real deal. Imagine that a well informed buyer, every dealer hates them. -
Good to know! Thanks Dave.

looking good!
Hello Santa! I'm still waiting for mine.

I ended up finding a Moser 12 bolt with 3:55s with only 2k miles on it for $1500. I have seen GM 10 bolt's on CL between $200 - $400
buying a used rear axle is probably the cheapest and easiest -
I was looking at the following Sanderson headers.
CC10AP is a swept back, shorty header with the collectors exiting along the angle of the firewall that fits 1964 and Up Chevelle and El Camino applications using the small block Chevy engine. This header is for angle plug cylinder head.
They did not list them specifically for the Monte so I think i will need to call them and double check.

Hey Mike,
I have a set of long headres in it now and they are up against the the proportioning valve, hang a little low, excess heat on the starter and a few other small issues. They are probably not the right ones for the car to begin with. Just looking for something a little simpler and cleaner looking.
Mike,I am thinking that you may have an issue with the cross member interfering with the front tubes of the block huggers. What are the goals with block huggers I know some guys don't like to see the long tube headers hanging down. Shorties are an option, Sanderson has some different stuff linky

Well you don't have a high nickle block. If it was you would have a casting number of 3951509 or 3030817. they were made from 1974 to 1976 and were 400CID 2 Bolt.
Your block the 3970010 is a 1968 to 1979 2 or 4-Bolt mains used in truck and hi perf application. This is the one of the most popular blocks GM made. The only way to tell if its a 2 or 4 bolt mains is to pull the pan.

Okay! I am probable going to get an ear full on this one.
So I am looking to do new headers but I want to take the clean looking approach to this.
Has anyone done a set of the Block Hugger Headers with a SBC? I think because of the front cross frame being so far forward they may work.
Thanks,
-
Purchased a Moser 12 bolt posi with 3:55s

Looks great Willie. I agree. Do the silver.
I used the spray can on mine. I am going to redo it this winter and use the quart stuff. You will get a much better bond.

Also Holley has a great site for picking out a carb.
The air gap is a perfect manifold for the job but I would say you want a vac sec and not a DP. Holley recommends a VS carb for heavier cars with a mild motor.

I guess I don't have a BOP rearend. Bummer. That kit sounded to good to be true for me. The hunt continues. Thanks everyone.
-
Do I need to pull the dif cover off to tell?
-
Did the 71 10 bolt have a C-clip style rearend or a 4 bolt flang?
Thanks again,
-
Hi All,
I have the stock 2.73 non posi rearend in my 71 and want to upgrade it. A guy has a new Yukon YDGGM8.2BOP-3-28-1 with 3.55 gears to go with it. Anyone know if this will fit the stock rearend? Reason why I ask is the part number says BOP on it.
Thanks,
-
I have not! Cool.
Thanks,

We found a set at the eastren meet last summer Mike G bought the pair for 900. they were nos fenders too. great deal I was going to buy them but had no way to get them home as I drove my monte to the meet and it was packed to the roof.
YA!!!! What a great deal and they fit like a glove. Thanks for helping me carry them back Steve.
Leo should have them. Last I checked he has factory referbs for around $750. Shipping with not be cheap. He will want to send them protected from getting damaged.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like a good used one is the way to go.
-
Nice list! Thanks guys
-
That car is very close to me and I have been keeping an eye on it for some time. The guy who has it is a dealer.
-
Anyone know how the aftermarket trunk lids are or should I find a factory one?
Thanks,
-
The guy that sold it to me was either a liar or a moron
He said it was a 700r4
That sticks!
This looks interesting

Global West makes really nice stuff. Met them at the SEMA show in 2011. Looks like it's very well made!
