  1. UPDATE~ OH SUCH A GREAT UPDATE!

I found the devilish culprit! I said I checked the distributor hot wire... well I did but I didn't check the wire it was tapped into... Turns out the wire it was on was breaking down... worthless 16ga wires lol anyways. I wired my distributor to a 12ga wire in the ignition. so now I have 14/12ga wires that should not be breaking down.

    OH HAPPY DAY!

  2. hey, sorry to butt in and steal the topic but... are there any oils at all that have ZDDP in them still to at least make things a little better?

  3. update. On a whim I went nuts and hunted down a non-existant TCS solenoid... not it apparently lol

but the car is now doing this nutty rpm bouncing in park... it's progressing... I feel it's infected with a car disease! I've called several doctors and they won't prescribe any pain killers for me now lol

  4. I checked filters and lines all check out great... unfortunately at this point... I wish it was just that lol I'm going to look at a carb rebuild kit for that edelbrock but until then, anymore ideas would be great smile

Just changed the pickup coil... still doing it. ok...

    Things I've changed/checked:

Fuel filter, fuel pump, carb- checked

coil, pickup coil, distributor cap, rotor, ignition module- changed

Also checked spark plugs... wires... piston place in comparison to spark.

Just checked and replaced the main feed wire to my distributor... same results

  8. Also, when I say it died I mean the engine was no longer running but all the power was still on IE power steering and all that great stuff... which is weird cause if my car dies, normally all that cuts off and I've got to put it in park to start it again but it started back up on it's own if I hold the gas... not the tach either, used a timing light which reads rpm's and it read the same thing from the plugs... I found this out cause it started to do it in park now lol

  9. I'm going to grab a new... kinda new... ignition module today out of a distributor from work. would be pretty easy to replace. I'll probably change out the wiring too. and clean the new connections.

No prior changes to all of this, wait no, ok I put on an electric fuel pump 2 weeks ago...

and now I've put on 31747150032_large.jpg because I thought it was the coil going bad...

  10. Seriously... it's having seizures!

I am driving along about 30 mph smooth as can be and then the rpm's just FLATLINE! they stay dead but the car is still running (power steering, brakes, the works!) then it kicks on again and HARD! then the rpm's are boucing all over the place...

I thought it might be a coil problem after I check under my distributor cap (HEI). So I checked my coil and found a wire loose... Bought a new coil... still trying to suicide by owner! a Friend of mine suggest LOTS of water in the gas... and then I heard someone say something about ignition module... and then my mother was mocking my electric fuel pump idea...

    Any thoughts? smile

    ditto

that is a good buy on that Qjet

Edelbrock can be great for gas mileage if jetted correctly! the performer series that comes jetted for fuel economy only needs 5.5-6 psi though... so if you jet it lower you will either need a regulator or an electronic pump (and just bypass the mechanical if you want to keep it).

the little extra's really save money in the end when it comes to gas mileage smile
