  1. Ok - here we go.....first off thank you everyone or helping me out with the CSI.  Second, what I have is an SS CLONE....sold to me by a "friend" a long time "friend".....and as his friend when he needed "Johnny on-the-spot", jumped through all kinds of logistics to get his rides ready.

The stamped id info on the pad has definite grind marks between the first set and the newly stamped CGW. .  The rear casting does not lie.  What I have is a 402 Monte Carlo with SS badging, right down to the SS button on the steering wheel.

Ok I can absorb that - what has me ballistic - is the fact that my "friend" knew this and presented it to me knowing it was fake.  Dude, have some integrity.

I spent almost 5 yeas in Iraq and this car was one of my prized achievements......a kind of thank you to me.

    Some people's kids.......

Again thanks to everyone - this site is AWESOME! ...JK

  2. Found more info - CGW is Corvette 454 - LS5 HP - the casting is correct for 1970 BBC.  It does not have the air pump system, nor auto-level.  I think since the car was made in Flint, the non-emissions motor came from Canada...thoughts?

  3. Does anyone know what series of casting #'s were stamped on the 454's SS - I can read TO71........CGW - can't make out the rest

    Any help?

  4. Hi folks - just joined up - cool forums.  I have a 70 SS 454.  I've had it for about 4 years now - had it out twice.  I'm wanting to get just a few things period correct (distributor, battery, wheels, tires etc...).

Anyway - how many SS cars came with the gold vinyl roof? and did GM change the color name from butternut yellow to something else?

    Thanks - JK
