My 70 MCSS 454 is very hard to start when temps are above 80 and engine is at operating temps. It cranks fine, seems as it is not getting gas or a vapor lock? The engine is original and recently rebuilt, carb is original quadrajet and it has also been rebuilt. Starts fine in cooler weather.

Found the problem! starter wire was loose. Thanks

My 454 ls5 is hard to start right after driving the battery has a hard time turning the motor over. starter and battery are new

I believe the 83 and 84 monte carlo ss still had a th350 not the overdrive tranny

Spectre makes a throttle bracket with an adjustment to keep the bracket from rotating works perfect!
-
Thats exactly what it is doing the bracket rotates and I am afraid to torque down on the single nut in fear of cracking the carb base. Does any one sell a better design bracket?
-
It was the throttle cable not adjusted to w.o.t. Thanks!

While driving there is no roar from the engine, very good acceleration but I know from owning and driving many cars with quadrajets the secondaries are not opening.
-
There is no binding or sticking in the linkage. I just bought this car and the carb looks as if it was rebuilt as it looks brand new.

choke opens as it should

The secondaries on my original quadrajet will not open runs fine in all other aspects. ls5 454

The fuel line is routed away as much as possible from heat sources. The engine cranks fine but I have to pump the gas pedal quite a few times to get it to finally restart.
