Looking to get a bigger engine. I have a 350 with minor mods now(cam, runners, lifters, etc) is it worth it to get a 396 like this:
rebuilt 396 .030 over steel crank forged pistons, edelbrock RPM cam and lifters and polished RPM airgap intake, fabricated polished aluminum valve covers and orange powder coated oil pan .
closed chambered oval port heads with some port and polishing done, Great motor!! block castings are 3902406 which makes it a 396 produced in 1967 and in an ss chevelle.
Or hold out for a 454?

Have you tried OPGI.com or ebay?

Gotcha 180 it is.
Yes I do mean V-belts. Not sure where to find replacements at(because I'm not sure the part number)
I don't have an aftermarket system so when I looked at it it just seems the best thing is to loosen the alternator and slide the belts off. Do you know a better way.

I replaced the plugs, fuel filter, oil and such. Now my question is
Is a 160 Thermostat gonna be alright for my 350?
And I don't have an AC but am looking into replacing the serpentine belts. So do I need to loosen the alternator to get them off or is there a better way?
Still trying to find the part # for the belts
Thanks in advance

Gotcha... makes sense. Right now it idles around 900 or a little lower RPMs.

Just bought a 70 Monte and it has a shift kit on it. It seems pretty aggressive. I can bark the tires while driving with no problems. My concern is, that the Monte shifts hard just going from park to drive or reverse. I mean enough to jolt the car pretty good. Is this normal?
