Thats exatly the set up I would run. My car has a turbo 350 and im dropping in a 454. I want to add the posi with 3:73 gears.

Would I need to box the arms if I kept my 10 bolt and just ordered a posi unit and some gears & bearings ?

Ok , so I can just buy a posi unit and some gears and turn this rear end into a posi rear end ? Sorry for the questions just unsure which way to go. I'd rather not have to buy a whole new 12 bolt and have that installed. Its easier to drop the car off somehwere and pick it up all done rather then drive around looking at rear ends I have no clue about only to find out I bought the wrong part.

I am installing a 454 in my 72 Monte. I was told I should up grade the Rear End and Tranny. My rear end is a 10 bolt non posi. Can this rear end be made into a posi by buying a posi unit and new gears ? I dont plan on ever racing it just a fun street crusing car. I want to eventually add a muncie 4 spd down the road also. Hey Darren , That is one beautiful car you have there. I didnt have valve covers when I bought my Motor , the ones I ordered were tall. Then after I got them I read that tall covers might not clear the brake booster ( go figure ).....Here I am now trying to figure it all out...lol

Yours looks nice. It also looks like You have a smaller Brake booster.

Nope , just because I like the ones I ordered best. I was told that there was a valve cover gasket thats extra thick that would work with short valve covers but its not the way I want to go. I found a nice 7" Brake booster that they say fits the car so Im thinking of going that route.

I am putting in a 454 within the next few weeks in my 72 Monte. I bought fabricated aluminum Valve covers and I heard they might not clear my facotroy Brake Booster. Is that the case and if so whats the solution ? Smaller brake booster ? If so can anyone recommend one ?

ok so Napa and ask for El Camino variable rate springs for rear and SB Monte W/ AC for front ? The El Caminos are direct bolt in ? Thanks again for all your help. Sweet ride You have there.
