I've seen restored First Generation Monte Carlos with the underside of the hoods painted black and some body color. How did they come from the factory?

This is the car that sold at Mecum in Kissimmee. Probably could have been bought for $30k in November before the owner paid to list it with Mecum.

Clint, thanks for posting the pictures. Some beautiful Monte's there. Were you able to stalk and talk to any of the owners and promote the FGMCC and tell them they need to join. Thanks again for sharing.

I did talk to the gentleman that owned the green '70. I asked him if he was a member. He wasn't. Don't think he was interested unfortunately

Clint, are you going to the Eastern Meet in Carlisle? I’m going and Bob who owns the Blue 72 pictured above is going as well. Anyone else from NC?
No, I don't own a Monte Carlo right now ( sold it a couple years ago) but hope to find another one and would like to make one of those meets when I do.

i bought my firestone indy 500 275/60/15 tires from tirebuyer.com
nice tires and got 2 for under $200.
heres the tip of the day.... before buying anything online google a coupon code for them. saved an extra $25

just installed moog cc501 springs with 275/60/15 tires
love the look of mine and the ride is good

I'm using Moog CC501's. I also have 275/60-15 Radial TAs mounted on 15x8 rallys with 5" backspacing on the rear. If you want to use 4 1/2" backspacing, you may need to trim some of the rear wheel lip.
i looked on ebay and was looking the best deal for the springs. some cc501 were not compatible with my car. isn't that the part# and any with that part# work ?
-
hope the pic shows up.i have the original springs that look like they have sagged. i really don't want a "jacked up" look. just want the new wheel/tire combo to work. i bought some 15x8 rally wheels with 4.5" backspace. i plan on running 275-60-15 tires. i'm thinking i can get away with some new stock springs moog part#cc501. if anyone sees a problem with this setup please let me know
thanks for your help
edit.. can't get the pic to show up but its in my new members post

i'm assuming this is for both springs?

my only dealings with them were on friends cars in the '80s and they leaked, cheap plactic lines that had to be mounted in the trunk.maybe they have become better quality now??

thinking about getting some moog el camino rear coil springs (part# cc507) and was wondering what shocks you were running with them?
do not want air shocks
thanks
