This may be a stupid question but how does a clutch fan actually work. I know there is a spring in it. My 71 Monte 350 engine has a 4 row brass radiator and a 160 degree thermostat. the temp gauge never goes above 180. How to actually test the fan?
Looks great. the only problem I would have is that wiring for the dash. I'm pretty much a mechanical man. You have a great looking shop. I'm lucky I have my son inlaw's shop to use a lift whenever I need.
I had the same issue with my 1970 Monte. thats the car that I had the Lemon Squad inspect. The Inspector never road tested and lied on the inspection. I had to do the same thing, add a vacuum pump. The best pump is a Rotory Vane pump made by Leeds.
They are the tallest valve covers I ever had. They were on the car when I got it last summer. I like the fact that they are thick, no bending like original sheet metal valve covers. No leaks.
The seats are new black vinal. they were the closest to original that I could find (Ebay). I did buy the proper seat brackets. had to drill and tap a couple holes.
Sctt , I tightened them until snug, then 1/4 turn. They both had a very slight leak. I tightened them a very little bit more and no no leaks. The fittings had a very nice taper on the feral.
I have Headman stainless headers on my 71 Monte. They come down on a short angle and have a ball and tapered fitting between the flanges. I still can use standard length spark plugs. I did have to modify some wrenches 🔧. Can't use a plug socket on all of them. I have a whole bunch of old wrenches for modifying. Pick them up at garage sales.
Scott I have all the 1/8 pipe threads with sealant. Tomorrow I am going to use 1/8 copper tubing with the compression fittings. The fittings that came with the gauge are really nice. The under side is flat and the furrel has a flat and then a nice long taper. I know you don't need the sealant on those threads. What I would like to know is how much to tighten it once it's hand tight. Never used a compression fitting that small.
