  1. John, I remember years ago I had a 71 Corvette with a 350 4 speed that had a high idle. I worked at a Chevrolet dealership in the parts room when I was just starting out. One of our mechanics told me that there was a carbon build up under the intake manifold. I first thought he was pulling my leg because I was young and I won't say stupid, but he insisted. So, I took the intake off the car one weekend, drilled out the plate under the intake and sure enough there was a big chuck of carbon. I pulled the carbon out, screwed the plate back on and put it back together and the car ran perfect. I'm not sure that's what you have going on but maybe someone else can confirm. I hope you figure it out.
  2. Did you pull the distributor? Did you check the timing?
  3. Congratulations, there are only so many of these cars left in the world. It took me along time to find mine and at the time I thought I over paid but in reality I don't ever plan to sell it so I don't care either. Enjoy the ride and post some pictures.
  4. Great idea, I'm going to give it a try.
  5. Welcome to the club and Happy New Year! Where does a guy find a 4 speed. I would like to find one myself. Enjoy the new Monte and post some pictures.

  12. The picture they have on the website looks like the burlwood that doesn't match the dash. I'll place an order and see what happens. Take a look at the website and see if you agree. If you get a chance. Thanks
  13. Dennis, do you have a part number. I looked at the web site and it says it doesn't fit my 70
  14. Looks great Dennis. Is the the burlwood on the console you mentioned in a prior post?

  21. I agree Dennis, that's what I did. Find a good core and a good kit. I had a mechanic friend rebuild it
  22. I bought a roll of hose on ebay, although some people price it like the have gold. Like the others say you can get it at automate stores
  23. I agree about the different Burlwood. I bought these from Dynacorn and the Burlwood matches closely. The edge is a little loose so I may try a small brush and some super glue. Where are you getting the replacement Burlwood? Thanks
  24. Looks great Dennis, what do use use to attach the burlwood? Mine new shift plate has the burlwood coming apart
  25. Finding a numbers matching carb shouldn't be that hard. If I remember correctly there is a carb rebuild company that offers numbers correct replacements. I'll see if I can find it online.
