Back when I bought my MORRIS belts there was the GM logo option (shown in this picture) that I paid extra for. -

Do they still offer the buckle in the smaller size that looks just like the OEM deluxe belts, and do they still ask if it's for bench or bucket seats? I really like them because prior to getting them I NEVER used the shoulder strap belt in my 71 Monte. Enjoy and be safe! -

I don't know about 72 it may have been improved for 72 but yes for 71 with the optional deluxe safety belts. My 71 Deluxe option had a fixed length Female end that has the release button with a smaller release button and an automatic tension retractor / roll up on the other Male end. -

Could someone sew a piece of leather or some other material, into a cover that would slide over the seat belt? -

Welcome to the club!! I picked black when I ordered my 71 Monte Carlo way back in 1971. Enjoy it and this club is a great place to ask questions about first gen Monte Carlo's. We love pictures too!!!!

Remember Wolverine Cigar on the North side of 11 Mile rd and a corner street (I don't remember the name) not too far West of I-75 ?

Chris, No gift, savings from the day I was born. I started delivering the Detroit News, helping my brother, when I was about 8 years old. He sold it to me in 1964 and I delivered papers, cut neighbors lawn and washed windows till 1972. The Detroit news did gift me (and some other paperboys) a trip to Washington DC in 1967 and a trip to London England in 1972. Good times!

My favorite memory is the week I picked up my new 71 Monte Carlo, from the Chevy dealership and drove it home. About 2 weeks later I graduated from High School, class of 71. I am so happy I still have it!

Do you have or know someone who has an account with https://www.bumper.com/ to look up a VIN #? I am trying to look up the 1973 Mercury Cougar VIN# 3F91H575704 my wife owned, her first car, that was stolen Sept 1979 in Troy Michigan. I know it's silly and I don't want to sign up with some scam thing and get stuck paying for what probably is a waste of time. I saw an add for https://www.bumper.com/ and there may be other / better ways to look up an old VIN number. Thoughts??? We saw one like it at a car show and it got her thinking about it........... Thanks.

I don't remember where I got these but I did work for DuPont Automotive finishes in Troy, Michigan so I assume I got them from work and made a scan of them years ago.

Morris is what I used and they are great.

My right mirror started to "drop" when my wife shut the rt door so she had to adjust it so I could see. After several years it got so bad I took a wad of "dum dum" putty, smashed it behind the mirror on the inside bottom, did a final adjustment and it's been great ever since! I think that was about two years ago.

I added a right mirror in 2006, after I almost hit a vehicle on my right side. I had a Left remote chrome so ordered a right one to match. It was not remote controlled at that time. Here is a link to the pictures I took about the installation. Hope it helps, I sure am glad I added it! https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/adding-a-chrome-right-side-mirror/

We were at the 2025 (30th) Woodward Dream cruise today. It was very very hot and chance of storms so we didn't drive my Monte today, We did cruise Woodward Thursday and Friday in the Monte and had a great time. Today we were walking, North of 13 Mile road in the ballpark, where they have all Chevy vehicles. I thought I was told last year I could sign up and bring my Monte there for free, since I own my 71 and a 2020 Impala both purchased at Bill Fox Chevrolet, in Rochester Michigan. I talked to the young woman, told her the story and she gave my wife and I tickets for today and so we could eat free. I walked to one food truck, got something, then walked to the next food truck and this was the menu. Guess what I got!!! (It was great!) I hope I get the paperwork this time so I can park my Monte there next year for free!

Sorry, I have a bench seat. In 71 there was an option for deluxe seat belts. The female connector was small compared to the stock / standard belt connector. (See Picture) The standard stock system required you had to tighten your seatbelt, it was NOT self adjusting like the deluxe. The deluxe SHOULDER belts also required you tighten them. I don't know what 72 had. Good luck -
I replaced all the rubber hoses on my 71 several years ago just as a precaution. I did find a restrictor in one of the hoses that I almost threw out. I wrote about it some time ago and I don't know if a 72 has this or if the previous owner messed everything up.

Got my new hat, love it!!! Thanks.

Yes, POLY, NEVER again, I don't remember any improvement! I also (years ago) went to a 1-1/8" ft anti sway bar and added a 7/8" rear anti sway bar and don't remember any big improvement. Best thing I remember was changing my 71 Monte from, stock in 71, BIAS tires to Radial tires.

Here is some information about changes to the stock ft end alignment specs. I rebuilt my ft suspension years ago with red bushings, not black stock rubber bushings and after 8 years or so, they started squeaking. Someday when I rebuild them again, I will go STOCK!!!!

My 71 Monte Carlo, ordered with the options I wanted and could afford using most of the money I had saved my whole life. You know the story. So happy I never sold it!
