  1. Just a guess, but perhaps the restrictor lowers the amount of vacuum so liquid gasoline doesn't get pulled into the canister when there is high vacuum like coasting down a hill?
  2. I don't need tires yet but if I did, I don't believe they make tires with a small single white wall, like I had in 71 and still have today (but they are radial). Picture is of my original spare tire that is still in the trunk.

I didn't know this started in 2007, WOW!! Here is one of my 1971 and me. I just purchased my Monte several weeks prior to my graduation from High School.

    Hi

Welcome to the club! Great looking Monte! Yes, we do love pictures of first gen Monte Carlos.
  6. When I replaced my original ft seat / shoulder belts with 3 way belts for the ft two seats from Morris, I also ordered the (female) buckle part for both bench and bucket seat kits. The shorter ones are made for bucket seat Montes, longer are for the bench seat. NOTICE I ordered DELUXE seat belts when I ordered my 71 Monte made in Canada. Deluxe belt kit has the smaller metal GM buckles where the other have LARGE plastic buckles.
  7. Bucket seats I have from either a 71 or a 72, I don't remember. Not sure what exactly you need to see.
  8. More pics of the back of the ft seat and the rear seat. The folding yellow seat is NOT from my 71 Monte.
  9. My 71 black cloth seats when I had them redone with material from CARS INC in 1984. I had the cloth material sewn in by an auto interior shop I knew of.
  10. Very Very Nice!!!!
  11. We have some now here in Macomb County, Michigan, about 2" to 3". It can stop and that would be great!
  12. No, not yet. He lives 650 miles away.
  13. I like it! I ordered my 71 with this option but in 71 the center was the Chevy Bow TIe. Picture from 2009, This young man, now 16, drove my Monte for the first time Thanksgiving 2023
  14. WOW a light! Fancy... 😁
  15. I found this picture of the back side of WS Wiper switch from my 71 Monte. I assume the black wire is the ground.
  16. I am the original owner and the fuel gauge didn't do this for the first 50 years or so and I haven't changed anything in years. Probably a poor ground, it's always the poor ground that causes strange problems. Too cold now, I will think about it this spring..............
  17. Here is a link to some pictures of the Air Cleaner I believe that you are looking for. https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/2025/01/05/70s-4-bbl-air-cleaner/
  18. Jeff, It's always starts with the heater core. 😂

The next new Monte Carlo will be a SUV because that is all Chevrolet is making. 🤣

Welcome to the group! Great looking Monte.
  21. I love it! There was a man in the Detroit Michigan area that built 3 or 4 back in the day. I don't remember his name but have a picture of one of them. This was taken in Ohio July 1993.
  22. Here it is after blasting but I can't find the picture after I painted it black and gray.
  23. My parking brake assembly was not fully painted, just the bottom section that you could see when sitting in the driver's seat. I duplicated that but used a gray paint so it wouldn't rust again.
  24. I remember doing the parking brake. I forgot to reinstall the wire to the switch and drove several miles with the parking brake on one time! When I worked at DuPont automotive paint, we had a primer that we called "black dip" and it was a perfect match to the original low gloss that was on these items. Good times.............
  25. My wife wanted a new vehicle and didn't care what I got her. I thought about it for several days then my Granddaughter said she would help me. Easy peasy!
