  1. Who has factory OEM style Cruise control in their 71 Monte Carlo? When I set the speed the engine accelerates too much, then drops down too much then up too much again, over and over... I added it to my 71 over 3 decades ago and did have some problems over the years. I bought a backup, complete kit, and never tried it till today, but no luck. I have repaired it in the past successfully but not today. There is a air filter inside the unit but mine both fell apart like a dry old sponge so I need that also.
  2. From a 71 and there is a small plastic restrictor in the hose where it says vent pipe. I almost threw mine out!!!
  3. Couldn't find it?
  4. Cougar? My wife had a 73 that was stolen in 79. Anyone see this red 73 Cougar?
  5. Welcome Mike!
  6. Picture of my 71 NO A/C with optional factory gauge package. FYI-There is NO POWER to the dash / instrument light fuse until you turn on the headlight switch at least to the first click for parking lights. The dimmer has to rotated to the brighter side, if rotated to the dimmest part, there may not be any power either, not sure.
  7. Welcome! We love pictures of First Gen Monte Carlos!!!
  8. Here is a long (Snowball) list and pictures of things I did when I needed to replace my (NO A/C) heater core. I also had my clock rebuilt and included that in the list of things I did. https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=645&action=edit
  9. Great set of driveline questions! I wonder if there is a website where your questions and others like them are answered? My former boss (current brother in-law) Did this sort of thing for the 235 cu in INLINE SIX Cylinder engine. Langdon's Stovebolt Engine Co. is not in business anymore but Tom still has a ton of used 6 Cyl engine parts for sale.
  10. Here is a picture of my MORRIS 3 point replacement, showing the difference of the bench vs bucket seat female end of the belts. I don't know if OEM is like this or not. I suggest you replace yours with the MORRIS 3 point safety belt system.
  11. Welcome! Yes, we do love pictures of Monte Carlos!!!
  12. Great looking Monte you have!
  13. FYI, The female end of the belts are different for bench seat vs bucket seats. I bought them both because I have a pair of bucket seats I was going to swap out my bench seat with but haven't yet. Here is a picture of them both.
  14. Love it!!!! I'm a stock OEM person. (But i'm NOT perfect)
  15. I also did MORRIS. Until then, I had never used the shoulder belts in my 71.
  16. Welcome! Show us some pictures of your Monte!
  17. Today, April 27 1971 is the build date of my 71 Monte Carlo. I drove it home May 14, 1971. So happy I was able to keep it all these years. Pictures are in front of my childhood home. Good times!!!!!!
  18. It's fun to see a FGMC when you are just driving someplace. I left my house in my regular car on my way to ACE hardware and 3 blocks from my house I see a 70 blue FGMC at my neighbors and the men were outside talking. I stopped and had a nice visit with them. The owner just purchased it and was showing it to his friend, my neighbor. I forgot to take a picture.
  19. First drive for 2025 on this great very warm Thursday and guess what happened? The battery was dead!! I just bought it March 7, 2024................ Hooked up the charger, the dial read 0, rechecked the connections, all good so I just waited a bit and sprayed some weedkiller on all around the house. About 45 Min, finished the weeds, looked at the dial and it was at 10+, waited a bit longer then started the car. This year I poured some gasoline into the carb, put the lid back on and started the engine!!!!! Went for a nice ride around my area, shut it off and yes, it did start back up!!!
  20. FYI, I may have missed it above, but the air cleaner base is different for a 2bbl that a 4bbl carb.
  21. FYI (I found these years ago, I didn't make them) Difference between a shroud for a small block vs. Large block.
  22. Nice find and thank you for posting all the pictures!! Enjoy it!!!
  23. And when you get old and your new vehicle has hundreds of things displayed on the 30" instrument panel and even after a 40' video on how to use these features you can't adjust the dash lights, we can talk!! 🤣
