  1. Different felts for the wide molding
  2. Ole Red fired right off yesterday afternoon. I had to put a new water heater in and started it for the plumbers. The younger one loved the so9und of it. Hid other half kust wrecked his 1990 Monte Carlo on a slick road. His older brother was accused of agitating him because he told him about the car before they got here
  3. That look good Dennis. I hope mine come out half that god. I dlike the idea of the bumper chrome. I wonder if that is similar to the rust-o-leum chrome I have?
  4. always thought SBC VALVE COVERS were all the same and fit the same. They are hitting on the sides not top, so cam lift does not seem to be the problem I bought new valve coverss once and the measured about a 1/4" shorter than the old ones but Not close enouigh to cause any problems. My GM Performance stamped valve covers I just replaced with cast aluminum becasue the stamped covers would not seal on my new aluminum heads and the new ones were about an 1/8" shorter than the stamped ones. No problems with the aluminum hitting on my roller rockers and no leaks finally anfter fighting it most of last summer.
  5. Thanks Steve but Patience is not in my corner anymore getting older and crankier LOL
  6. Any tips to make this process easier. I started two days ago and have only worked on it for about 2 hours. I am hating that I started tbis project but Ole Red has needed it done for several years. Luckily it is a 72 and not a 70. I have it laying on my cardboard covered table saw in the wood shop so no wood projects that involve cutting. I have some Simple Green solution mixed up and it seems to be doing a pretty good job but as I said I am hating this tedious task but can't afford to pay anyone to do it for me. We are having a new water heater installed later today so funds jut got tighter. Oh well enpoough of the rant and onto the grill and the start of yard work which is not as much fun as it used to be. LOL LOL
  7. This time changing is a PIA and some of the biggest BS that was ever perpatrated on the general public
  8. it showed in in my bankstatement alreadythis was a debit card. I never looked for a receipt as the payment recieved message appeared
  9. 10 years and 2 weeks before I aquired Ole Red and drove um home from Northern Indiana
  10. I have the Shiney-Hiney in my 72 and love them
  11. Nice looking. My 2nd car was a 60 Catilina but it was a sedan. Drove it for 2 years and then traded it even to my dad for a 59 ford 2 door sedan so I could trade it oof for a 61 Impala bubble top.
  12. My preference is nothing below 70
  13. I remove my lower backseat by moving the front seat forward as far as they go and sit on the floor with a towel on the seat and push it in and up with my leg. That has never failed me yet but it has been ten years since the last time so I more than likely would not be able to do that now
  14. No pictures it didn’t happen LOL
  15. I guess the chevelle is the same as our Montes as most of everything else wiring wise is
  16. Ole Red has been to Carlisle at lest three times, Hiwassee Ga. Somerset KY and going again, Norwalk OH, Des Plains IL and all over Indiana and into Ohio before I went to Dayton two years ago. Carlisle is by far the longest trip
  17. And the stuff they make you see when it was not there LOL
  18. Take your time on installation it can be tedious but you will not be disappointedI mounted my control box/panel on top of my glove box worked great
  19. I bought new ones for my 72 in 2013 when I had Ole Red refurbished from the Parts Place, INC. I cannot remember the part number but it was different form the ones with the chrome strip
  20. I wonder if the cylinders for the Monte on top had been pinned. I have seen those hydro cylinders give out before
  21. Most of what I have seen are pop riveted on but the are some that are attached with two sided tape. If the vinyl strip in Tyne center of the molding comes out then probably pop riveted but if not good chance taped on. Just looked closer at you photo and it looked like taped on but I was wrong once I think lol
  22. We got just under 2” of the white crap that is about a foot to much lol
  23. You could always get an indescope and look inside the tank before removal and see where the float is sitting on empty and how far it is off the bottom of the tank. When I was having trouble with my 350 before getting my new heads I looked inside of the cylinders to see the bottom of the valves and heads and also looked down the intake to see the valves inside of the head that gave a decent idea the condition of where everything stood. Attached is a photo of the worst valve before I removed the head. This indescope only cost me like $30 and uses my cell phone/tablet for a screen. As you can see the valve is in really roiugh shape one of the handiest tools I have bought in a wile as I have used it several times aroiund here for other potential problems
  24. I have seen one that only the doors were powered but the owner added those as it came without powered winders
