cny first gen 71 Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 One of the shops I worked at for 15+years in the 70s and 80s we sold hitches so I did learn a thing or two about them and put on a boat load of them (no pun intended) 1 Quote

B-Man Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 @Dtret, holy cow, that is awesome, hilarious and maybe just a tad bit horrifying (in a good way) all in one!! You're right, it's still welded to the frame. Hard to tell what's frame and what's hitch, hah! Honestly, I will pass but someone should definitely make use of that. Looks like it will hold a heck of a load! And no, I don't have any Carlisle plans at the moment. Never been. I know I know, shame on me. One day! Quote
Stuckin70s Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 what about boxing the frame in and cage bolts? Quote

B-Man Posted April 8 Posted April 8 @Rob Peters, ok thank you for the heads up. I will probably order the uhaul hitch. But happy to make some space in someones garage too! 2 Quote
B-Man Posted April 9 Posted April 9 U-Haul hitch ordered! I got the 4,000lb rated one with the 2 inch receiver. The web site says 4 days to receive. I can't imagine it will come that quick, but who knows! I will be putting my 1961 Penn Yan wooden runabout into the water on the Mystic River in a month or so. Man, that boat will look great behind the Monte Carlo :). Might have to bring a tow strap to get pulled out of the boat ramp though, haha. We shall see 5 Quote

B-Man Posted April 9 Posted April 9 @DragCat, exactly what I'm going for! Thank you for sharing that. Is that you or someone in your family? I have some old pics of my grandparents pulling a camper with a Chevelle convertible. Will see if I can find it 1 Quote
