Hey everyone, I’m looking to install the OEM air cleaner and valve covers on my 1970 Monte Carlo. It has the original 350 engine. I’m hoping someone can help me with a couple issues I ran into. 1) The rivet hole on the exhaust manifold to hold the upper heat stove is blocked. Do you think the best way to get access is to just drill the piece out? Please refer to the photos for a better understanding. And 2) Can anyone tell me the name of the hose that I have circled in the photo? It goes from the valve covers to the air cleaner and I need one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Regarding the rivet in the exhaust manifold,  When I had mine out a few years ago and replaced that part, I simply drilled the old rivet out.  It was not hard at all.  I filed it as smooth and flat as I could, center punched the old rivet shank and installed a new one.  In reality, it isn't a rivet but a tapered pin with a head and grooves on the shank and the new one just gapped right in.

I will see if I can find something on that emissions vent tube.

@Rob Peters I really appreciate it. Will I have the stock look if I order those parts?  I’m aware that the parts aren’t OEM, but I need for them to at least have the factory correct look.

I believe I have a bunch of the hoses. Let me know if you need one. Do you need the metal pipe from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner also?

@Dtret Yes, I need the part from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner, and I also need the part from the valve cover to the air cleaner. Both of these pieces circled.

FYI, I may have missed it above, but the air cleaner base is different for a 2bbl that a 4bbl carb.

I could be wrong, but I could almost swear on my 70 Monte the tube going from the air cleaner to the valve cover is rubber.  I will have to look.  My Monte was made at the Baltimore plant the 3rd or 4 week in June of 1970 so it is a late 1970 build.

That 71 I just picked up is also rubber but I don’t believe a majority of them were.

That’s my 1970 in Tyler’s photos. It had the metal tube on it when I got the car with 47,000 miles in 1996.

@Dtret Do you want to sell those to me? I’m in Glendale, AZ 85308

I will. I’m still looking for the correct valve covers.

My 71 350 2 barrel had the metal tube with rubber piece on the end.

@Dtret and @Canuck Thanks again for all the help. Valve covers and air cleaner are complete. Now I need to get rid of this chrome alternator bracket and get an OEM one. Would either one of you happen to have one or a lead on where to purchase? 😀

Why didn’t you ask ?  I have a bunch. Post a picture of the style you’re looking for. They are a little different.

@Dtret Sorry, I didn’t even think about it until after I bought the other parts from you. Here are a few photos.

@Dtret I also need these parts. I don’t know the correct names. Aaron sent me these photos of his. I simply put arrows in the pictures pointing to what I need. One part goes under the heat stove on the passenger side exhaust manifold. The other parts are pieces that hold the spark plug wires. Please let me know if you have these as well as the alternator bracket. Thanks again.
