Hey guys, been having a lot of coolant leaks cropping up, and was wondering at what point would you recommend just replacing all of the system components. Far as I know everything is original, but it's looking like the radiator is leaking in a couple of places now.

Started digging trying to determine how bad I'm screwed, found that coolant was leaking out of 3 of the driver's side sparkplugs... Hoping it's just the headgasket and not the head itself, but gonna wait until I have money for parts before digging deeper.

Yeah... probably do it tomorrow night/monday after work. Too bummed to look at it right now, you know how it goes.

If it's a cracked head, I'm boned... On the plus side, if it's a cracked head, that gives me an excuse to get better flowing aluminum heads, and cam it.

Rather than make a new thread, thought I'd post my problem here... Drove the Monte out to a family function, about 35 or 40 miles. On the trip out, she ran like a top, heater and everything else worked. On the way back, she started running rough between exits, and I got the oh so enjoyable smell of coolant cooking off the headers. Pull off to the side, she was smoking up a storm and the radiator was bone dry, after I just checked it before leaving. Is it possible that something in the system could have vibrated loose and plugged the cooling ports, and caused it to overheat?

Discount Tire has road-force balancers. I don't know if there's one in your area, but it's someplace to check.

Found out the hard way that i have a cooling issue... gotta tear into it and see how bad it is. =(

Thems some wide tires... dayum. They're not as tall as the biggest I've had to work with, but I think they're about 6-10 inches wider.

Think they came in a 6 or 7 inch wide 15" wheel, but that's the only difference I've been able to find.

Hmmm... this seems like a poor plan for me to be doing... I'd be nervous as all get out that I'd break the windshield.

Who here thinks someone should try dropping an LS9 into a Monte? 638 horsepower and just over 600 lb/ft of torque has gotta be able to get them moving pretty good...

Changed out the diff fluid and got her ready for the drive out to WI for the exhaust tomorrow.

Drove it in to work and back, aired up, rotated and balanced the tires, and finally figured out why the fuel guage wasn't working.

Changed valve cover gaskets, so two leaks down!

I'm in Minnesota, there's still a decent pile of snow in my front yard, so I know they're still there... How much does a shop usually charge to recore the rad?
