  1. Thanks Joe and Steve. Now that I see it it seems so obvious. I have ordered such a tool and will try it next weekend. Thanks again Joerg
  2. Hey guys. I'm on my way to install an AM radio into my Monte but I'm struggling with all the cables hanging around. Maybe someone can help... So what we've got here are three wire harnesses. First one has three cables: Yellow, Light grey, Black Second one has seven cables: Light brown, Dark Brown, Purple, Blue, 3x Black-White I guess this is the harness for the radio and at least the Light Brown, the Purple and 2x Black-White Cables are for two speakers in the front. But how do I connect these to the radio (which has 2x GND, SPK, LMP, 12V pins)). How do I even connect at least two speakers to only one SPK pin? The radio is not the original one, it came from a 72 Camaro. Third harness has three cables on a connector: Light blue, Orange, Yellow So I'm most interested in getting the radio and speaker(s) connected but these two other harnesses should also have a deeper sense. Which could it be? Thanks in advance Joerg
  3. So now I've got all the parts but I'm not getting the small ring pulled off from the steering rod. Is there any trick or special tool necessary? I've tried a Circlip Plier but had no chance to get in between the small gap. Have a great weekend Joerg
  4. Thanks Scott and Sam. I have ordered both parts and once these arrive in good ol Germany I'll let you know if the most important part on my Monte is working again...
  5. Thanks guys. So from what I understand now I need these two kits, right? NON-TILT-COLUMN-HORN-CAM COULUMN-HORN-CONTACT-SPRING
  6. It's confusing. I have all parts but not the following mentioned ones: - plastic horn housing (I'm not even sure how this should fit because I can't see any space where this could fit my current setup) - spring - plastic sleeve
  7. Hi Guys. I installed a Grant steering wheel the other day which was easy but just noticed that the Horn is not working because of some missing hardware. At least I have found out that my Monte lacks the original Horn contact spring, pin and retainer, but I'm not sure if anything else is needed. So if someone has repaired his own horn contact please help. This is the current view without wheel: In a video I saw a description how to install such a kit (ebay link) but the white plastic ring with the intake for pin and spring is also missing on my Monte. Is this the real setup for a Monte or does it look different? Cheers Joerg
  8. Thanks guys. When I look at the photos it's obvious that it's almost impossible to remove it without disassembling the whole board first. But not a problem, I need to paint the chrome rings anyway and I also want to replace the clock with a tach. More work, more fun.
  9. Hi guys. Is it possible to remove the wood grain from the dashboard without dismount the dashboard itself? I have removed the four upper screws on the grain but it's not yet moving.
  10. Daytime running lights are a different story. These are additional bulbs and a legal requirement in many European countries e.g Germany since some years for new cars and can be added to older cars.
  11. It's an additional little white bulb. I think it's not different to your yellow light besides the color but in Germany you are not allowed to use the (also yellow) indicators as parking light. It's always on when the low beam is on. And the taillight is also active.
  12. I have bought these here http://www.ebay.de/itm/170997376308. They have replacable H4 bulbs which is the standard bulb I have seen on most of the 7" headlights. They also include the parking light which is a legal requirement in Germany. We are not allowed to use the yellow US parking light unfortunately.
  13. I finally found the time to cut the headlight bucket and install clearlight headlights. I'm really happy about the outcome. First I was fearing it could look too modern but I think it fits the chrome headlight bezel perfectly. In the photo below the new headlight is left, the old one in the right for comparison.
  14. Thanks Joe. While I couldn't find what I'm looking for it will help me with other eletrical tasks. So on the photos it's clear to see that it's only one connector with two pins. That would mean I can connect the two cables my way.
  15. Is that anywhere available online (for free)? Originally Posted By: Sam (Bones) nope that is the sending unit for the TSC (transmission spark control) I have no knowledge about that thing so I'm curious what happens if the cables are not connected?
  16. Hi guys. After removing the holder plate of the A/C compressor I have found two not connected cables which seem to belong to a part which I would say is the oil sending unit. It's on the drivers side near the spark plugs. There was a female connector stuck on it which can't be used anymore so I probably will try to reconnect the cables with single connectors instead. There is a green and a green-white cable hanging around. Is it important to know which one belongs to which contact or is it interchangeable?
  17. That looks uhm... special. However it wouldn't be street legal in Germany and you are right, these ligths are really expensive.
  18. Hi guys. Has anybody ever tried to install clear headlights like these? I'm curious how that would look. The lamp holder probably needs to be changed a lil bit to accommodate the bigger bulb holder.
  19. Thanks. Meanwhile I have found a manual which explains a lot. http://shiftworks.com/pdf/Tach-Instructions.pdf Still need to find out where's the "Negative side of the Coil".
  20. Oh and how "easy" is it to connect the wires? Do I need to lay a cable anywhere into the engine bay?
  21. Great stuff. I have added it to my Xmas wishlist. Oh yeah, this will become a really nice Monte for next season.
  22. Hi guys. There are "Clock To Tach Conversions" available everywhere (e.g. eBay) but it seems to be that these are only compatible with 454 SS models. I have an L48 350 and would like to replace the clock with a tach. Any idea how to do it? Is it even possible? Don't wanna replace the whole dash.
