  1. Hey all! Long time. Has anyone verified whether these seats will fit in our Montes? I think I remember reading that that generation Monte seats fit, so I figure if those fit then Impala seats should fit. But short of heading to the junk yard with a measuring tape, this is the cheapest way to find out. :D

  2. Looks great! I know this thread is probably dead, but I'm hoping this gets seen. I'm laying out an LS3/4L60E install. Couple questions:

Any clearance issues with steering linkage hitting the engine/oil pan, or the steering column with the headers? I see you said you had no other clearance issues but I didn't know if that was before steering column was in. I saw Super Chevy put an LSA in a 70 Chevelle and they had the linkage hitting, and the column looks like it barely cleared the stock manifolds.

Which engine mounts did you go with?

  3. Hey all! Been a while.

I'm looking at doing the big swap, and I like to plan everything down to the bolt as much as I can before getting into it. When I'm short on money, planning and dreaming is free

So I've read that in swapping in an LS engine with a 4L60E, one of the hurdles is getting the motor mounts and transmission mounts to be correct not just for clearance but to maintain the factory drivetrain angle. Apparently if the angle's wrong, bad things happen at highway speeds and/or to U-joints?

I'm planning on these UMI Performance motor mounts unless someone has a better recommendation or a bad story about them.

    1) Will I be ok moving the stock transmission crossmember back like I've seen others do or do I need to do something fancier? I plan on this being fully capable of highway speeds and road trips (including A/C and cruise). Not just a cruise to Dairy Queen every couple weeks.

    2) How do I measure drivetrain angle and ensure that I'm good to go?

    Thanks!

  4. Are those upper A-arms on the correct side? It looks like your losing a lot of caster the way they are installed.

Yeah, they're correct. The snubber doesn't hit right and the arm interferes with the frame on the wrong side, plus I matched them up to the originals.

  5. Hey! Just logged on for the first time in a couple months.

The spindles are the original ones, I just had them blasted and powder coated.

C'MON. Nobody caught that I was referencing the next lyric with "So I just have to wait"??

  6. I will say this: When the front was in the air with the new wheels and tires, I turned the wheels back and forth. Far left had the tire hit the sway bar, but not far right. I'm thinking I just need to put it back in the air, loosen the frame brackets on the sway bar and shift it more centered. Worst case, it slightly rubs just before full lock on a smooth surface. I can live with that, since I never drive full lock anyway.
