  1. I wasn’t without. I did the Power Tour in 2016 and drove the C10 to Austin, TX and back (to Ohio). Built a huge stinky big block and shoved it into my Estate Wagon. But, it’s time. Time to finish the Monte and take her on the Power Tour this summer.
  2. Here’s the cars I’ve done sine my last update in 2015
  3. Yes, I cheated and went with a Chevelle interior.
  4. It’s been a while. I did a Mustang for a friend, a Camaro for my brother in law and a 70 SS L34 Chevelle for my buddy. The Monte is out of mothballs and I’m working on the interior.
  5. It is Chrysler PS2 Bright Siver Metallic. Thanks for the compliment
  6. Okay members, Here are some results of the fruits of my time away from the board and working on the car. Enjoy!!!
  7. At the risk of members caterwauling in disgust, threatening my well being and otherwise casting insults mercilously I admit that it is PPG Envirobase and the code is PS2 which is Chrysler Bright Silver Metallic used for about 10-12 years on just about every product they built. Looks best on a GM. Don't you agree? 8. http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/Racerhed/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150614_201016_718.jpg I don't know what the heck is going in but I cannot copie and paste any links from my photobucket account and I'm pulling my hair out. I want to update you guys since it's been for FOREVER since I have posted.... http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/Racerhed/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150516_135538_032.jpg
  9. Update: Last month the motorcycle road racing season started which means that my body guy who races and works on several other peoples bikes during the season became absorbed in bike prep in about the middle of April. The project is dormant until most probably October. The good news is that I've been busy with mechanical restoration on two customer's cars
  10. The small block: The Wagon:
  11. I haven't been totally dormant for the past 2 months though. I found a set of good 781 heads for the big motor build. I had a contest on Facebook and let my 300+ friends decide the color of the car. I built a small block for my Caprice wagon. It spun a rod bearing at 254,000 miles.
  12. Chad took a few weeks off. His girlfireind's car kept breaking down and he got the CRUD. I told him to lay off and get better. Yesterday he went out to his garage and decided to knock all the lacquer off the car.
  13. Never been. I've had a slew of okay cars. 10-20 footers I guess. Never felt they should be flaunted. 69 X11 Camaro 70 Catalina 73 SS Nova (it was nice) 72 Cutlass S great story on that one.I rented a car one way. My son, cousin and I drove to southern MS. bought the car sight unseen and drove it back the first week of January back in 2006. The car used some oil, but otherwise ran flawlessly.
  14. Yup, Pro Touring is the ultimate goal. I'm going to run it in the Power Tour this summer then take it to the GM nats in Carlisle 10 days later. I hope...
  15. I lurked for quite some time too. I found QuarterBody's car inspirational. Not for nothing though there are a ton of inspiring cars on this board. I hope to not disappoint.
  16. The "loop" is not as close as it looks. It is just above the height of the yoke on the rear. < 1 inch... Again, I want to thank all of you for the compliments. This whole thing started when I decided to replace the body bushings. I thought "why not clean up the frame and seal it up?" Then it kinda snowballed from there. If I can get it to launch straight and go around a road course with decent results I'll be happy. My goal perhaps foolishly was to stiffen it up substantially w/o tying it together with a roll bar. I plan to run some 30cc domed pistons and a set of open chamber 118cc oval ports. The ultimate goal is to have a torque monster that will pull it through corners and from light to light with a fair amount of aplomb. Naturally I'd like a respectable time in the 1/4, but If you link to my Photo Bucket page you will see I matriculated to road racing from drag racing therefore torque for exiting corners and good solid launches are my priority. I never knew turns could be so much damn fun!!!!
  17. I'd like to thank all of you for the compliments. Paul, Where do you run your car? If it looks that fast sitting still, I'd like to see it go through the traps!!!
  18. The background on the car that I know is as follows: I bought it from a gentleman in Sidney, OH. He told me be bought it from his brother who lives in Lima. When I took it apart the frame was packed with good ole southern red dirt. The body is originally Midnight Bronze Metallic and it was a 350/350 car. It has a 72 specific 402. It has a TH400 and a 12 bolt. It has been restored in the past. My paint and body guy says it has the original paint and 2 repaints. The fenders, hood and right door are not original. Because of that I'm going to have Chad spray it with Mojave Gold. The suspension is UMI and I chose the 1/2 inch taller NASCAR joints on the uppers in the front. I installed a steering box for an 88 SS Monte. The frame mods were inspired by the G Machine the PowerBlock boys built earlier this fall. EVERYTHING on the chassis is new. I converted the rear end to discs. I have a Gen V 454 that is punched .030 over and I had Brewster Machine work the crank over. The engine build is going to take until next winter since my wife said I have to take her on a cruise LOL... More later
  19. I was working on getting all the pics uploaded into Photobucket. I decided to come back and edit the OP. I've been taking pics like crazy.
  20. Bill, I'm not too far away from you. Ashland, OH
  21. Yup, I coach track days and road racing. I'm a car guy, always have been. 6 years ago I thought I'd buy a bike and try my hand at that crazy stuff. I got fairly decent, but there are a lot of guys I coach that have gone on to race and are pretty fast. My mid life crisis is over and I'm more sane than I have been in a while so I sold my street bikes. I kept the track bike so I can get the speed monkey off my back once in a while. I'm going back to cars for R&R though.
