Hey guys, I forgot to take before pics of my interior before I started my demo but here is one of the door panels:
I need to order carpet and headliner. I am thinking this is dark blue but not exactly sure of the color. Can anyone help me out? Is there somewhere that you can see all of the colors?

I pulled the coat out of the trash can just to see if there might be some lucky strikes (or something more valuable) in the pockets. There were no pockets on this jacket. Doggone it!
On a more positive note, the monte fired up and ran for about 10 seconds. It knocked for about 3 seconds but smoothed out. I bought items to do the tune up and change fluids today. Maybe I can get it on the road before too long. As always, thanks for the suggestions.

Sorry about the picture. Here is a shot of the old girl. He couldn't find the key to the trunk so I removed the seat to get in. I found the wheel rings, centers, floor mats, fender skirts, jack and a very cool white sport coat.

Hey Guys,
I bought a 72 monte today with a 350/ auto. It has not been started for about 25 years. The original owner said that he removed the spark plugs and put marvel oil in the cylinders many years ago (not sure how long ago.) I removed the plugs and put a 5/8 socket with 3/8 wratchet on the crank and turned it over several times. It seems to spin ok. Are there any other things I should do before throwing a little gas in to see what it will do?

I thought I had hit the goldmine today. I was at a ladies shop checking out some woodworking tools. Her husband has passed away and was looking to move some stuff. While looking around, I spotted this radio:
Once I got home, I checked out this thread and realized it was far from being a U69. I knew it was a stereo and I needed a radio. Anyway, I think I am going to put it in, if it will fit. She gave it to me and it is closer to original than my sears aftermarket radio.

Hi guys,
At some point this, probably this winter, I would like to take my dash apart, get all the lights working, get my clock fixed and install some new speakers. I have been wondering how many different combinations you can have on the dash. I want to have something that would be correct, even if not for this particular car. I would like to have a tach instead of a huge gas gauge. I would also like to have gauges instead of light for temp, oil, generator and whatever else there is now. I also wanted to see what the little lens is for that is to the left of the cigarette lighter. Does anyone have any clues? I have attached some pics of my dash.

I have been working on installing my secret audio system from Custom Auto Sound. Hopefully, one more evening will get it wrapped up. Looking forward to hearing some tunes other than the stock exhaust system.

Hey guys, I am ready to get some tunes in my 72 but I want to keep things looking original, if possible. My car came with these speaker grills when I bought it. Do you think these are factory originals? I installed some new 6 x 9s last night. My grills only have 3 studs on them. When I attached the speakers, one corner of the grill is raised up because of the absence of a stud on that corner. Do your factory grills have 3 or 4 studs? I wonder if I could add one? I am sure I would have to repaint them. Any suggestions would be welcome.

When I bought mine, it came with an aftermarket radio but U do have those same speaker grills in the back and they are brown to match the interior.

My build sheet for my 72 shows "U69 Am/FM radio with buttons". I would like to get one for my car and get rid of the old sears radio. I just don't know exactly what I should be looking for. Are there any other things I need to consider?

drove mine to the gas station (hard to pass here without stopping), Mexican restaurant, Lowes to pick up some quickrete, ice cream joint, old friends house and inlaws. My old friends house was my favorite. When we were growing up, he had a 71 monte. I stopped by and said "before you start cooking, I want to show you something outside." He said "is it a corvette?" I said "No, its better than a corvette" His knees almost buckled when he walked out of the door. Priceless!

Did some fabricating work on a "shelf" to mount the MSD box. Finally got the gas tank pulled to figure out why the sending unit reads incorrect. -
There was a lot to remove. But...every time I do something like this, I am always excited to learn something else. My rear windows did not operate very good. I figured I was going to need new regulators. But I put a little grease on them and they work like new!

I replaced my package tray and lubed the window regulators while in there. I also found a missing piece of my build sheet.
