  1. ok, ill have to give it a look this weekend guys, i will pull the rod to see if its bent at all and try my hand at adjusting the valve. if that doesnt work then its a new cam and lifter install for the spring.
  2. also it seems as if its to tight, can that have tightened down by itself while driving ?
  3. would the valve lash effect the movement of that valve ? And dont i have to do that while its running ?
  4. rock, do you think it would be pushrod or cam lobe ?
  5. Malyc Idk, i did pull the battery to the dizzy so it wouldn't fire up on me
  6. Hey guys pulled one valve cover then started to get rained out as usual. but here is what i found. The #2 is not moving like the rest Any ideas ???? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKGzT1liiIU&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVQSJn9g_kI&feature=youtu.be
  7. Sam, im gonna check in the morning on needing a valve adjustment. im looking for one of the rockers not moving like the rest right ?
  8. Malyc where are you located ? Or if I do need it will you be willing to ship?
  9. The timing goes way above 14 btdc when I hit the throttle with the light hooked up
  10. I couldn't get to 6&8 on the passenger side but the other 6 read all around 130 compression if I remember correctly. Rock, what do you mean have I "seen" the vacuum advance work ? What should I be looking for ?
  11. thanks sam that will help when i go to check them tomorrow
  12. timing is set at 8 degrees it starts and cruises fine, but it does the popping at any degree of timing. I'm an engine noob guys, is the exhaust valve pushrod always on the left side of the valve ?
  13. is exhaust lobe the same as cam lobe mike ?
  14. only thing i had done was a new intake put on. How would i adjust the valves ? and when i pull the plugs what am i looking for ?
  15. Hey guys here the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP-X84bPqPs&feature=youtu.be
  16. I can put a video up tonight hopefully
  17. Rob i tightened everything down in an x formation, front right then left back etc. Sam, when you get down on it you can hear the pop with every rotation and its constant. I think vapors only come out on the first pop but it might be with every rotation also
  18. I never thought of oing any carb cleaning since the carb was brand new when i put it on.
  19. Dan, i dont know too much about dizzys, i just know its the hei with vacuum advance and the internal coil on top.
  20. sam, i have put 2 600 eddy's on both doing the same thing. maybe ill get a cheap q-jet and see if that'll change anything
  21. Yea, i did all that today because i saw on the web where it said a vibrating needle on a vacuum gauge means its an ignition problem. i dint do the dwell because i don't know how. i do have the timing set at 8* right now and she starts idles and drives fine at low rpm.
  22. So i have changed everything on this engine including plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, coil and a brand new platinum duralast. The darn thing is still popping through the carb with vapors but only when you slam on the gas . so im asking for any suggestions on what it might be ? Or what engine should i replace it with and get the best bang for my buck. P.s. Put a vac gauge on it and it just vibrates from 19 to 21 back and forth.
