  1. Either intake leak between the water jackets and the intake ports or a head gasket leak between the water jackets and cylinder. Easy fix since the vehicle is still running but you will likely have to clean all that milk out somewhere.

When you put that car up against a car that is really heavily modified with chrome everywhere, decked out customized trunk, custom interiors etc.

Not all heavily modified cars look better than those with mods and are closer to stock in appearance. I have seen some butt ugly mods over the years and I know I am not alone thinking that.

I love to see our members out there judging each others cars.

Its isn't about not walking around, looking at cars, talking to folks and selecting the best ones. Its about having to make difficult decisions because, lets face it, we have many, many, many outstanding cars in this club. After a night of bench racing my head hurts already. Compared to the bench racing, the events and destinations, the interactions with club members, the awards dinners and dinners in general with the club, the meeting new people and spending time with old friends we have made, the judging is the most difficult part.

Jim, that is rare.  At our Mini-Meet in Carlisle this past week there were more than 10 cars in the Modified class, I think 3 in the Street class and only 4 in the stock class.  We had a lot of cancellations but if everyone had shown up we would have had 19 cars in the Modified 8 in Street and 6 in Stock.   Those numbers are reflective of normal Eastern Meets in Carlisle, the Modified class is usually almost 2 to 1 over any other class.

You didn't address what needed to be changed. Is the goal to hand out more awards to members? Make the judging easier? (more time intensive) Not following the rationale behind adding a class, especially as the judging part is my least favorite (and most stressful) activity of the meets.

  4. If it ain't broke don't fix it. What is broken?

Talking to folks as they are doing the judging, that is the hardest part of the whole meet experience. Adding a class, in my opinion, just adds to the already difficult job of selecting the best of a great group of cars. This past EM there were only 3 cars in the modified class as stated on the window placards. It would make more sense to me to break down the huge group of cars in the stock class into at least one more sub-category as the stock class seems to have the majority of cars. Are we looking to give out more awards to more members? Is that the goal? Just curious.

I have to admit that when doing my "judging" sheet and being unable to ascertain a clear winner in the various categories a lot of time my final decision comes down to who hasn't won before, or who is a new member. One more "unwritten criteria" I draw from while filling out my form. I know, not hardcore judging but most times its quite difficult to select one car that is head and shoulders above the others enough that the category is clearly won. (does that make sense?)

To answer Mark, the safety modifications are things like aftermarket shoulder seatbelts and headlights that are brighter than stock incandescent bulbs.
