ahh ok thanks, that's what I ended up doing last night and got it working
-
you ran a separate ground from the tank to the hdx box or grounded it to the chassis? and did you use the original wires from the gauge harness or did u pick up the signals from else where?
thanks bro

hey guys, so I'm installing this Dakota digital hdx dash and I'm kinda confused. I have a 72 a/c car withstock gauge cluster with idiot light. My question is when hooking up the fuel gauge can I just take the pink wires that went through the original cluster, pull them out the cluster plug and route them to the digital box? and can I take from the same plug, the blue wires for the turn signals and run those to the digital turn signals?

I was just thinking of this last week, thanks for posting.
I wasn't able to find any info about cross member fitment-you've answered that.
I'm curious, what's the difference between the stock and GV specific crossmember/
Will a stock crossmember work?
yes a stock cross member will work..i installed a gv on my 72 monte behind a th350/350 combo and used the stock cross member

i deleted all the chrome trim down the side and used Nova side marker lights and switched my door handles as well..just minor touches to make it my own car..wish i could post pics here . im gonna keep the chrome trim around the windows tho...
-
yeah its striaght forward but if the front support brace is rusted out you will have to fab that cuz those arent reproduced or u could find a donar car and chop the top off
-
yes a chevelle roof skin will work
if you don't cut the roof skeleton and just remove the skin you don't have to worry about anything sagging
I think AMD is the only company that makes the roof skin.
-
i used two engine hoists to take it off
-
swapping in that rear end will be more trouble than its worth...its too narrow..build your 12 bolt..it will be cheaper than getting that one in your car
-
yes you will need to clean prep and prime before painting for best results...but really..u probally could get away with a good cleaning and some adhesion promoter sprayed on first....
-
sem makes the paint your looking for and NPD sells it
-
yeah i feel that...i also did the disk bake swap while the rear end was out..eaisest time to do it
-
went to legendarys website and they dont have the rear seat cover in dark saddle..smh
-
yeah get all your parts and let the shop put it together for you..then u just bring it home and put it back in the car...i also went with a rebuild kit, 343 gears from yukon and a tru trac posi unit with 33 spline axles. If i were you, i would also replace the axles...u dont wanna start playing with your new posi unit on those 45 year old axles.....ijs

use a scraper to scrape that stuff off..its just insullation
-
nope they dont reproduce those

has any one use these with after market or different bucket seats? im reviving an old post!!!!

there are no 17" trim rings...most of the bigger rally rims come with the edge of the outter lip chrome polished,,,

you are in the same situation i waS IN WITH MY 72. my 72 taught me how to weld....my advice would be to save up some money and get you a decient mig welder. i got the one from eastwood and love it. then once you have a welder..find a scrap yard near you and go get some 20 gauge scrap and practice welding on it...scrap is usually free..welding is easy once you learn the basics. you can do it. i had never welded before i started restoring this car..i learned and welded on a new roof panel..new trunk floors..a few patches in the floors like you have, the cowl shoulders and two fender patches....saved alot of money doing it my self and learned a new skill.
oh yeah..as stated before...dont use flux core...get some gas and mig wire.....go for it

I run a champion unit in my car..sbc 350 and have had no issues since ive had it..almost 4 years
-
you have studs in your floor to mount a bench seat..my 72 just had holes in the floor threadded on the bottom and were held down with bolts.....interesting
-
thats what i did just use the ac delete cover and either delete the two rubber hoses or keep the connected to the heater core. much easier that way
-
you are right....lol

that's gonna be a fun ride
