  1. Speaking for myself, I had a total of three runs. First pass was a 9.72 and the second was a 9.48. Third pass I experienced vaper lock half way thru second gear hence no ET {I was eliminated}. Air temp was over a hundred degrees. There was no track prep {vht} No burnouts allowed of any kind on street tires. No prestage light just a stage light. No mph. I guessed my mph hour was about 85 to 90 because the shift light '5200 rpm' was staring at me in third gear near the end of the "8th" The track ie airport seemed to be a bit long but thats my take on it. Crazy davey might have some input on the rest of the story. Despite the heat my Monte ran smooth and strong and I had great time hanging out some really great Montes and friends. There is NOTHING I would do to change that. TIM

  2. Couple of quick questions; How many of you all are bringing kids. Gwen and I are bringing our six grandkids which brings up thw next point is that we are probably going to rent a trailer{ ie the trailer storage question again} cause all those people dont fit in Montes to well, And third-anybody going to race thier car? Looks like family pressure is having me race mine.

  3. Well if the engine is free I certainly wouldnt look a gift horse in the mouth. Three pounds? thats pretty conservitive. Those pistons will work with 5-6 pounds no problem. But keep in mind, That changing that top pulley is easy to do and power is really addictive. And that kind of addiction will lead to a high silicone content lunch for your motor and your pocket-book. TIM

  4. A few years back I had this chevy monza with a B&M supercharger-The engine was a reverse 383 small block {400+.060x3.48 stroke} with hypereutectic pistons. the pistons were fine untill I pushed the boost over 7 pounds then the rings butted together and pulled the top ring land off. I widended the gap several times and ended up with .050 thousands end gap and still the rings showed sings of end to end contact. since I did not have the unlimited r&d budget I went with forged and had no sign of trouble after that, even with 10 pounds of boost. Go forged. TIM

  5. This last winter I installed a switch pitch T400. I like a lot. Low stall is tighter than stock at about 1000 rpm and on high stall it pegs at about 2500 rpm. With the stock built LS6 in the car drivability has improved greatly as i drive around with high stall turned on. At highway speeds there is very little slippage and my milage went up to 12.5 mpg from 10.5. If you find a switch pitch I highly recommend grabbing it.
