  1. Once again the question is will the 700r4 fit Ina 1992 firebird with a 3.1 liter v6? The difference being the 700r4 came with the same car but the engine was a 5.7 liter or 350cubic inch engine.

  4. Do you have to have the OEM vette computer to use it in a 72monte? Just had to ask to clarify. Ok now the details How do you add the wiring? and does the A/C pump need to be changed to the serpentine or can you retro the old pulley assy to the newer motor? WHat about the fan shroud? How about the OEM style exhaust system will need to be altered? Any help would be appreciated as I now need to do this.

    Thanks

  6. OOps! Yeah I think he is right they are bare metal. My mistake I had mine painted by my brother inlaw when he had the car.Now that I remember they were bare metal. If you wanted to paint them you have to use high heat paint. I would still want to chrome mine the chrome would keep the oil from sticking to the metal.

  7. HI, Yes they are supposed to be chevy orange as my originals are. "Sheilds UP!" lol sorry I couldnt resist that one. I would like to chrome mine, I dont know if you can install them with the manifolds on I guess if you can fit a wrench in there its possible.

  8. Hi Guys I have a problem finding a good rebuild shop that sells the 700r4 and possibly a 1996 jeep trans(4.0 automatic). I found two sites that do them with upgraded valve bodies torrington bearrings ect. What I need to know is anyone familiar with monster transmissions and the other shop I cant remember the name just now but they clain to build them heavy duty as well. Basically they say they can take 500 to 700 HP no problem for the 700R4. As far as the jeep goes I just need one that has upgrades to prolong the life so the clutch packs dont slip when it gets old or has a lot of miles. Anyone have any info for me???

  9. Hi nope I dont have you confused with someone else. I just cut and pasted what he told me about a crank I bought from him to put in my car. And an 1187 was an aftermarket crank someone tried to sell me that was modified poorly and would have puked when I installed it. But I thought you might be interested to read it. Your car Im sure will do well.

  10. HI I was looking to replace my std. crank one day and I asked someone(who races) about the eagle cranks they told me.- I am the original owner of the crankshaft, it was in my car. The auction owner was unable to give you the answers because she is not me! I am sorry for the confusion about that. as for journal size, she asked me but as was stated I was not sure, simply because I did not build it this time around. Street and Strip had sent the crank off to be balanced, and ordered the main bearings for it. When it was sent off it looked like it needed turning, and when it came back it looked great, so I assume it was turned, just dont know how far. The factory cranks we have turned well over .040 and I am sure it is not THAT much or even close. its the aftermarket cranks like eagle and scat that you need to watch out, the core gets softer as you go down, which is why we stick to GM forgings in most cases, except stroker applications. those we automatically turn .010/.010 because often eagle and scat do not check the roundness properly and we have had motors torn up because of egg-shaped journals out of the box. Hope this helps! and I hope you get a new machinest too. No offense but there is no such thing as a 1187 casting number

  11. Hi Yeah I hered of them, they might be a bit pricey for me. Most of these place in CA. Have a lot of overhead so it bumps the prices way up in some cases. The paddock is one that has some decent prices but other things are expensive. Real estate in CA. is going up so is the lease of buildings. Not a good thing for montees.

  12. Ok thats what I originally thought. I will probably have one modified to work. One thing I do know for sure is that a 700r4 can be modified to keep it from wearing out too soon. The trans guy I left the info on said he does it to all his transmissions. For that price I will probably get two of them. The only trans thats better is the new one from gm the one they call bullet proof its run about 2000.00 and has a bigger bell housing than the 700r4. tO INSTALL THIS PUPPIE YOU MAY HAVE TO MODIFY THE FIREWALL. I HAVE THE MAGAZINE with the add it gives all the specs on it. Thanks for sharing guys!

  13. Hi what 350 driveshaft is that? from a nova? I was told you have to cut the driveshaft or custom build a new one. I plan on doing mine this way it would save me a lot of money and time. Let me know

John confused I did meet up with a guy in pomona he gave me his info SUPER T Transmission specialist Hi-pro gm's, Fords, Parts 909-620-8689

    He quoted me 800. for a 700r4

  14. Hi I hope you find your car what an injustice. I am vvery sorry to hear what happened to you. I would check out the local police where car shows/swap meets are. Pomona CA. is a big one.

You can reach the people who run the show to look for the lic/vin when they have the shows. If it isnt in circulation it was probably held by tow yard. Good luck
