  1. Thanks for all the information. It would be nice to have a full gauge package in the car. It's just a scary thought ripping the dash out when everything works. 🤣😂. I'm sure someday it'll have to be done though...
  2. Yeah that's what I kind of figured thank you for the input. For now I'm going to track down a socket and hardwire it into the dash lights. Eventually I want to put a tach where the clock is so then I'll change out the circuit board.
  3. So the backlight for the "gen" light and lightswitch went out. I pulled off the dash, and the part where the bulb connects came apart (circuit board) Can this be fixed? See pic below...
  4. Thanks for that information. I was planning on getting it from orginal parts group: https://www.opgi.com/monte-carlo/CH27021/ Has anyone in the club ordered this one?
  5. Thanks! Yes I will check the cowl also. I'm sure when they pull the windshield out the will check around the frame. I'm taking it to an auto glass place that deals with collector cars also.
  6. Okay very good! I'm just going to have them install a new window because the original is so pitted when the sun hits that I can't see where I'm going 🤣🤣
  7. Okay thank you I'm just assuming the original seal is shot.... just was wondering if there's something else I should be looking for, but the windshield was my first thought.
  8. Hey Everybody! I just had a quick question. Over the last few years, anytime my car is out in the rain I get water coming in the car from under the dashboard leaking on the floor mats on both sides.... I'm guessing I need to have my windshield replaced? (It is the original one) any insight on this problem would be helpful. I want to get it taken care of once I pull it out of storage. Thanks!
  9. Ok thank you! I definitely have a starting point now.
  10. Thank you for the tips!! What would an upholstery shop charge to do the front and back seats if I drop them off? Just a ballpark figure? Want to make sure I am not getting over charged... Thanks!
  11. Looks like we have the same car besides mine having a bench seat....Is that a cranberry red ‘70? Nice looking!
  12. Hey everybody, I'm starting to look at redoing my front and back seat in my 1970 Monte. It is a bench and I have the black nylon, cloth-type seats. Where is the best place to get the upholstery from? Do the new seat covers come with the carpeting that goes on the back of the seat near the floor? Also, I want to do a new seat foam in both front and back. So any help with that would be appreciated also. Also, if I need to replace any Springs in the front is that something I would order? I know when I sit in the driver's seat the bottom clicks. Any info or help would be appreciated thanks everybody!😊
  13. Wow you should really work for them! You know so much about it! Yes all the things you said about the VA system are still true....my only other question is about the control panel....they do offer one with the kit....I would prefer to keep it stock looking....so I just need to find a stock ac control from 1970 and it will work with the kit from CAA? Thanks again for all your help!!
  14. Thanks for all the info on the a.c.! I know mine looks like the second photo with the red jack handle in it.....MCfan, was yours originally a non AC car?. The one from Vintage Air says it's for a non AC car. However, I do kind of like the one MCfan posted about because there's less modification required.
  15. Hey Everybody! I am starting to plan for my body-off restoration of my 1970 Monte Carlo. My brother and I have already gone through the engine, transmission, and front end about 5 years ago. Him and I are going to dismantle the car down to the frame, go through everything, and put back together what we can, and have an autobody shop handle the rest. I am planning on getting all my sheet medal and floor boards from Leo. (I live in northern Minnesota, so there are rust issues.) I guess I am just looking for any input or tips from anyone here. I know you guys are a wealth of information. The biggest upgrade I will be making to my car is adding AC. I am looking at the kit Gen IV complete kit from Vintage Air. Does anyone out there have that, and how well does it work? I would also like a complete wiring kit for my car which one would you suggest? I also need a new gas tank and sending unit. (there are different options for that.) I am sure I will ask a lot more questions along the way, but I just want any tips from anyone out there that has gone down this road! Thank you, Wayne

  19. Here is my info: ENIGINE Chevy 355 9:1 compression Camelback heads My cam peaks out at 3200 RPMS TRANSMISSION Turbo 350 Mild shift kit Summit stall converter 1800-2100 RPMS TIRES 215-70-15 Currently I have 256 gears in it, and it takes a while to get the car moving. What would be my best bet when changing the gear size? I do drive on the freeway, and I would like to keep the gas mileage decent. What are your suggested gear sizes? Wayne
