  1. Actually ordered the filter I guess you mean capacitor.  That's why my post is named capacitor I am trying to see if my issue is just that simple. As far as voltages when the alternator turns on by the blue wire i could see 17 volts easy.

I just saw this post and wondered if he had tried that. Some people say its RMS capacitor some say its spiked voltage changes that it helps with. Simply stops burning points in regulator. etc.

  2. OOPs didn't see that...yeah, I tried that four times. I still have a overcharge issue I think. And my head lights brighten and dull depending on RPM.

Seems to be eating up regulators? Could it be the external capacitor? I have heard the capacitor is for RMI and heard is just for pulses generated by a mechanically operated NOS regulator.

Just looking for some more information.

01B means second week of January because January is the first month 01, February 02, March 03 etc. October 10, November 11. Etc. The 00595 will be on the top row of the build sheet next to the vin. My build sheets  are unreadable at the very top edge so I’m not sure what what it exactly says it I believe it’s box 9.

Yes the oo595 is on my build sheet.
    thanks for the responses!
thanks. That what I’m thinking also.

Absolutely not. The production number is on the vin under the windshield ( last six digits, remember US starts at 100,000 and Canada starts at 500,000. Or on the build sheet. The numbers on the data tag are internal numbers for gm and have no bearing on what your looking for.

So why does the body tag number for example 00595 change from body tag to body tag. ? and if the tag has an 01 B on it why is that not Jan second week. 1970 ?

The assembly manual comes in handy for stuff like this. Also parts manuals have different illustrations that are useful. The service and overhaul manuals are not so good for this stuff. Unfortunately I don't have any of my AIMs here at work or I could scan in some pages for you. For this kind of work the AIM is much better than the service manuals and are not expensive ($25.00), plus you don't need to rely on others to look up part numbers for you. This is from The Classic Muscle catalog, works but the AIM has torques and other nice stuff.
