Hello Monte friends...if you're interested please reach out.  Springfield Mo area.  No shipping.  I would like to sell ASAP.  This Monte is not perfect but a good driver quality, restorable car.  AC all there but not working and yes it has some of the usual monte rust on the lower qrts and rear tire wells, a couple of small spots on the frame and some pitting in the trunk area.  Rear window area seems solid.  As you'll read from the add, we've done a lot and I think this is a fair price.  I really can't go any lower than 13K.  Thanks, David 417-366-0030

  2. Hi everyone, wondering what color splatter paint?  When I look on The Parts Place or Ground UP etc, there is Black/Aqua, Grey/White, Black/Grey

When I ordered my tire cover and trunk matt it was Black/Aqua...so just wasn't sure what the original color would have been.

Also, has anyone painted the splatter or Por15?  Does it stick ok?

    Thanks, David

  3. Found my build sheet in the rear back cushion.  Really great condition overall.  I will probably have more questions but one that comes to mind is what color is the interior carpet color?  In know the trim is saddle, but there are several colors of carpet that could have been used.

Also how do I know which "saddle" paint was used for interior trim pieces without have to order 20 different cans of trim paint?

    Thanks for any help, David

  4. Just curious, trying to find original paint chip samples and noticed that in 1972 both RM and PPG provided paint chip sheets for Chevy including the Monte Carlo.

Did GM stop using one half way through the year?  Or did certain plants use RM and others PPG?

Is there any way to know which one I have?

    Thanks

    David

  5. Hi everyone couple of questions on my 72 Monte Carlo

    1) the dash insert is the carpathian burled elm.  It is in near perfect original condition with the exception that a white lettering has worn off above the cigarette lighter and it is very dull overall.  what can I use to help bring back some of the shine and luster?

    2) I am wanting to go back with the original medium green vinyl top ( which had been taken off several years ago and is now a black primer)...I cannot find a supplier anywhere for the medium grain levant grain vinyl top... any ideas???

    Thanks, David

  6. Thanks.

Another ?, my seat belt light is not working. New bulb, but nothing?  I tried my test light at  and nothing.

I disconnected the wire under the bench seat, tried the test light and still nothing.

    All fuses are working.

I know it's not a big deal, but I'd like everything to work :)

  7. Hi everyone I'm trying to get my interior (dash) turn signals working on my all original 1972 Monte Carlo... can you help?

Printed circuit looks good and I have power to the bulb socket, and I have a new bulb...but still no light?

    Is it the twist socket?

Funny, all the other lights work with same twist sockets?

    Thanks, David

  8. Hi everyone, getting ready to reupholster the front bench seat bottom on my 72 Monte with dark saddle interior...all original.

I noticed however that the vinyl on the head rest and sides is a smaller grain which I think is "madrid"

The bottom and back is a different grain...slicker/more difined...is it Elk grain??

    Thanks, David

  9. Okay if that's the case do I need to have that hooked up in mine? is that why my stereo isn't coming on?

Or are you saying that's only necessary when you're operating those things if the car is turned off

Thomas is right in what he said.  I think Dennis misunderstood when he said the lower left was the oil indicator.  You mention none of those 4 lights are ever coming on.  If it is dark out and you turn on the parking lights or the headlights are you getting any dash lights illuminating the clock, speedometer and gas gauge?  if not it sounds like your circuit board for the dash may be either brittle and falling apart or it has simply lost the ground connection .  You did not mention if the Gen and Oil lights come on when you turn on the key.  They are supposed to and then go out once the car starts.  If they don't it is another indication of something wrong on the circuit board

Hi Rob thanks for the information... all of the gauge lights work except for the two indicator lights, parking brake light, and the high beam light...oh and the seat belt light.

If there is a radio light that isn't working either:(

  11. Everyone this is David with my 1972 Monte Carlo...my interior is in very good condition except for the 'seat' upholstery on the front bench which needs to be replaced, as well as the armrest, and carpet

color for the interior is Saddle, however when I look through GM Heritage material and/or try to find replacement online there is a dark saddle, saddle, and sometimes a medium or light saddle

I'm racking my brain...which one is which

  12. Hi everyone, just purchased this 72 Monte in Missouri, one owner.

It has the original wheels and hubcaps original tire size was a G 78

I want to go back with the original tire size what would the modern-day equivalent be?

Also I want to put the Rally wheels on... for 1972 Monte Carlo Factory rally would have been 15 x 7 is that right?

welcome, that interior is exactly the same as mine ,i have the matching seat belts but looks great, roger

Yeah I was trying to figure out if that is stock... I noticed in some pictures that there are two styles of vinyl seats the one like I have and then there's another version that has a seem that goes down the middle of the seat portion

  14. Hi everyone, just purchased this Monte in Missouri. One owner 94K miles.  Sounds great after a friend and I installed new fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs and wires...and some fresh 91 octane gas and lead additive.

Planning to put new tires on this week but looking for a set of rallys...know of any??

Next is vinyl top, new carpet, and front seat upholstery.
