I love to show my friends the pic I took of your car from the balcony at the hotel in Ashland. I tell them how your body-guy’s wife hand painted the crest on there before the clear coat, and about the custom built cowl hood! One of my favorite Montes!

Looks like a lot of fun Aaron!! Wish I could’ve joined in!

I’ll be at (registered in) the 2022 CV Cruise-in at the end of this month. I will talk to the organizers as well. Get some of the more nuanced details for car clubs wishing to attend! Will report back.

A-Dod, let me know anything you need help with. If the Baugh doesn’t work, I’ll hit the pavement and find one that does! I’m taking this meet personal since it’s in my hood! Lol.

The 2nd Gen Monte’s were built differently. I don’t know all the details, but I do know they ride a lot “floatier.” The 1st Gen was built on a modified muscle car frame and as such, rides a bit more like a muscle car.
I love the styling of the 1st Gen the most of all Monte’s. But that ride quality of the 2nd Gen is second to none. -
We’re all nuts and we all have a screw loose! 🤣

Thanks Canuck!! 👍🏼

Well shucks! Thanks for the response! I think I found one that might work. It’s got a little tab on it, but I think if I cut the tab off, it’ll fit. I’ll give it a whirl.

Mine came with the same issue.... With the air cleaner cutting into the fabric.
It was pretty ratty, and I replaced it when she was repainted. Turn out to be a good thing, gave me a chance to clean up the surface rust on the underside of the hood.
I just went with a shorter open air filter to clear the liner.
I got a couple different spacers and I’m thinking about trying a 2” filter instead of 3”. It’ll at least give different combination options until I get it where I want it.

Oh! Well that is a good idea! I did not know that. Mine is currently held by plastic clips.

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen! I think I can live without the blanket!
I like the sound of that big block anyways! Lol- 2

I put an electric choke on my carb and had to put a spacer under my air cleaner and now my blanket rides on the air cleaner cover. That’s why I’m thinking about taking the blanket out.

Have you put a vacuum gauge on your carb/intake to test how many in. it’s creating? I recently had some brake boost troubles and I tested mine; I’m at around 5,000ft elevation and have a cam too and I’m pulling 11in of vacuum. And it’s still plenty of boost to stop my car easily. I had a tear in the diaphragm inside my booster. Replaced the booster and even with only 11in, it stops like dream!

Well, its already a frankenstein car, 402 out of a 69 pickup, rebuilt and souped up. the front bench is long gone. The guy was converting over to bucket seats and console. the column shifter is still in it though. I think I'm gonna keep on making it a hot Rod, but im going to put a bench back in it and just go with all black interior. eventually will do body work and probably a matte black pain job or something like that. Found out last night after servicing the engine, and adjusting the valves that it has a flat cam. #4 exhaust wont lift so it's backfiring through the carb, so I will start with a new cam and lifters and just see where it takes me.
