Was into Corvettes but they are not for me anymore. Too everything, too small, too low to the ground, too expensive, too hard to drive, too hot, too loud, too lonely (wife won't get in it). Anyway, it's time for classic comfort. I got a new Monte Carlo when I got out of pilot training back in 1971 and I or we loved it.

  1. If someone wants to find and purchase a load leveling pump and tank for a 71 SS, can you request wanted items on this forum? Maybe request where a good place to look might be? Mine is wrong and I would like to buy or trade and buy a correct one. Thanks Dale
  2. That cap looks like it may be an adaptation or extension for the front and rear bracket???? Other than that, it looks to be the same, at least GM functionally. That cap and the brackets, I guess are long gone. Am I now looking for just the cap and brackets or the whole thing? I got these blue door panels as they were in better shape than my dark saddle ones. Can they be recolored to the saddle and if so, how best??? Thanks for the advice and I joined the club. Dale
  3. I am not at the car. I'll look later and get a better picture than this one.
  4. This is the pump. If it's wrong, I will be looking for a correct one. This one might someone else happy.
  5. Yes, off the car and not the correct one, I don't think. I'll post a picture later.
  6. See my prior post as there wasn't enough room for two photos. Maybe build date came from that door sticker. It's bent at the bottom right corner where date probably is. It's getting painted right now, but I did tell them not to paint over the tag. Hope they don't break off that corner.
  7. Glen I hadn't planned on putting them back on. I like the clean look but would put them back on if they are a desirable dealer option and if it makes the car more marketable. They were not an option on my build sheet, so not judged correct in the vette universe. Before shot of rebuild.
  8. I do plan on joining FGMCC. I have made contact with Jared from YouTube with some questions.
  9. David Thanks, and I did get those two manuals. Great reference books. Do you know of any books about interesting facts or details about the first-generation cars. That picture is when I bought it. It is now in pieces and that is why I need information so badly, to put it together again, correctly.
  10. I am also a member of the NCRS and have many publications on 1968 Corvettes. I just got a 1971 SS Monte Carlo and would like to educate myself on dates and numbers. Any suggestions? NCRS has a judging manual that is extremely helpful. Dale Carlson
  11. How can the Julian transmission date exceed 365? See forum post Decoding Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission. I have seen that number in the 500"s.
