  1. Man, that looks great from the picture in the barn. Should clean up easy. If you need the top to " soften up" Home depot sells some furniture polish that has beeswax in it. I use it on mine once a month or so. Make's it look like new. I'm out of it right now and can't remember the name. Nice color combo too. The motor turns over by hand? gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2589.jpg

  2. Welcome to the Club!!  2 Monte Carlos? I can only afford 1 right now ( money pit, like buying a boat). Good to hear your kicking that cancers butt! Hope all is good with you. Glad to see we have someone else who likes to talk about our Monte's on here. Need anything , give us a shout on  the forum, we're all here to help. I'm turning 62 yrs old this weekend and have had mine, not as long as you have (20 yrs this October).gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  3. Looks like the original stuff from the factory or dealership. I herculined all my wheel wells after I had replaced both inner/outer on mine along with "skins" for the quarter panels. The bottom of my car is also done with Herculine and is holding up quite well for being on the car for 18 yrs.gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  4. If that's the one in the picture, Great find!  Is that pearl white on it ? . Very classy with the rallyes on it.  I'm going BBC (427) myself in mine , Going to be a "Custom " Clone. It all started out as a Dark green 2bbl 350/turbo 350 , 2:73 posi traction 10 bolt car, the motor was a '86 replacement 350. After much needed restoration, turns into this with a 420 hp 350/2004r, 2:73 posi traction 10 bolt , and now to a 427/turbo 400 ,3:73 posi traction. Yes, the 402 was a much needed upgrade due to the reduced HP back in the early 70's.gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  5. Just my 2 cents here. Blueprint engines sells complete motors. A 350 hp motor is what I would replace it with. Plus they carry a warranty on everything in the motor, plus its been dyno tested before shipment. That's what I call good insurance on your classic Monte Carlo. All you need is a good shop that could do the install. I think they even have a network of places that install there motors. No matter what, keep the car and this bad memory will fade away after you get some miles on it. I've been working on mine for quite some time now, can't wait to hit the road and listen to my big block rumblin'. gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  6. Help ! I've broken my Driver's side exhaust manifold for my BBC and need another one to replace it.  I had them all set to go in and then it  dropped from the hanger I had on it prior to painting it.  Great,Just Great, fell on the last manifold bolt hole at the rear of manifold and broke off. I doubt there's a way to fix it and be able to use it. Does anyone have an "extra" ? All I can find online are passenger side. What really gets me is they were "curing" for the last 9 days with said hangers and no problems. 1 step forward ,2 steps back. On the good side, new driveshaft is ready to be installed.gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2589.jpg

  7. I just looked on Lutty's  online and they show new front fenders for '71-'72.     $789.00 ea.  . From what they show might be something to think about if you're repairing old fenders, could be a wash for the price. I believe they are in lower Pennsylvania?

  8. Welcome to the MONTE madness!! Glad to hear that have become a member. Lots of Monte people here help you out with your questions. Welcome aboard my friend!gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpgpictures are appreciated also.😊

  9. Welcome to the Club Curtis !!  You'd be better off replacing all 4 door hinges. You'll like how nice and smooth they close together after you change them out. Had mine in since '05 and still working good. Doors are heavy. I've strapped them up and used a hoist to do mine.gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  10. Just wanted to thank whoever got this back on the forum. I'm still in the " re- assembly" of mine. All gauges back in place and re-installing dash. I had to pull it on due to clock ,RPM gauge and new cluster assembly ( cracked and junk ). I'm still confused kon wire from the battery to horn relay. Mine is a '72 Monte Carlo with '70 dash parts. I'm old school and like the green dash more then the white.gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2588.jpg

  11. As mentioned, I have been looking through the forum and I get really confused about how to change mine out from a SBC to a BBC shroud. I have my original SBC shroud. I believe I get a BBC Chevelle (???) Shroud , and use the piece that goes from the fan to the rad on my shroud? So confused right now. I'm going to work on something else now and hope I get a answer on this. I'm finishing up my Turbo400 trans install. Drive shaft length is next. This BBC upgrade has it's downfalls, but can't wait to hear it start up!!

  12. Good catch there Jared!! I was thinking the same thing. I have to get a new front bumper for my Monte. The engine for my ( dare I say) '88 Fiero Formula, made a scratch in mine. Broke my wrist for it though, so now I'm thinking about shortening it up like they did in NASCAR back in the day. Thoughts?gallery_1763_8_1413157507_2589.jpg
