  1. Doug I saw you ask this on Facebook. It comes down to taste. A factory two will need the trim to break the two color apart. My 72 left the Maryland plant without the vinyl top but the rear window channel was completely gone which is odd for a non-vinyl car. I had a complete trim vinyl top trim for a 71-72 which I restored with the painted edge. I will be using double sided tape to hold the trim down vs welding in the pins and tracking down the clips.

  2. KG I think you will need a cowl induction hood do to the height of the intake. If you take a 4' level (should be long enough) lay it on the fender and measure down to your current intake. It might be close once you add the under hood braces.

  3. Bill I have that setup. I have the clutch fan setup for low speed in the shroud and the radiator has a dual 12" elec fan mounted to the radiator. When it was all put together it would see temps less then 210° on warm(hot) days. The elec fans are set to run after the car is shut off which helps it cool down alot.

  4. Doug with the changes you are making plus the harness being 47 years old might be faster and safer to buy a new harness. I know the cost is the bad part but in the long run it would be easier. For a new harness you'll need the dash harness, console harness (unless you already have that), and the under the hood. Going from the warming lights harness to the gauge style the under hood is different as well since you need a water temp reading gauge vs a light sending unit.

  5. Hello Mr King, hows things Rob ? Yes they all had air shocks for sure, in Kelly's Monte he had what appears to be Air Shocks from an El Camino from my guess as the one side had the double tube holes like my elky did. But........ my 71ss like Kellys monte had only one tube hole in each and ran off the air ride load leveller. it just seemed odd that Kelly's has what appears to be elky shocks ?

any input Rob ? did your elky have the two tube line in one shock ?

    Darren

Darren on ours it had factory metal lines going to each shock location and used a metal or even a brass T at the rear to supply the air. By the time we got the car/truck some one had replace the the original air shocks with regular shocks. We did put air shocks back on it but ran the plastic air line with each having their own filler. And things are good still trying to sale items can't have all the toys any more. Now for Kelly's maybe the plant didn't have the correct shocks on hand and grab the ones that is on his Monte just a thought I mean we are talking about the 70's where different car items could be found as a swap part.

  6. Phil take a look at American Auto Wire they make a 70-72 Monte harness with the newer fuses and horn relay. I have their harness in both my 70 and 72. My 70 has aftermarket gauges, stock power windows and door locks and a aftermarket keyless entry system. The 72 is all stock gauges power windows, power seats even add EFI to it. You do have to put the ends on for the connection just like the painless system but you have a color sheet to work off vs a black and white book of pages.
