  1. 1st the regulator should be grounded. second you can unplug regulator & jump out labeled wires F & 2 start it up slowly & increase RPM voltage should rise fast Don't go beyond 16 Volts 1500 RPMs if it does it's regulator or bad wiring or ground. There are many test you can do but too much to post here get a repair manual if needed normal alternator output should be at least 13.5 to 15 volts depending on Temperature & load, Rpm's. Bob

  2. idle too high. Shutting off in neutral makes it worst. shutting off in park will make it better.  hook up a tach even factory tach are often not accurate. Does your carb have a idle solenoid? Bob

  3. Anyone know or can look up what 2 wires at the firewall bulkhead connector feed the factory dash amp guage or were under the hood ie regulator etc what 2 wires send the signal to it. Many Thanks in advance for any & all help.Boba

  4. That's correct, Also check dryer is it sweating? An output temp at right side vent at 43 degrees is great at mid seventy outside temp at 1300 rpms door open. should be able to find a chart online. at higher outside temps ( measured at front of grill a couple inches out) adjust output a higher temp at vent. Are you replaceing any parts? Must pump down to vac at least 30 Mins.
