    Original mileage.
  5. Asking around on the forums here you will be surprised what you can fine. My interior was green too but I found dash pad door panels etc here on the club site which made the interior conversion a lot easier. Some of the items I did have to die or paint has already started to peel and pop off and I hadn't drove the car 5 times since it was done. Good luck on your conversion. It's a lot of work but you will enjoy it when done.

My love for Monte Carlo's started when my better half pulled this into our driveway. He stumbled upon it while doing a job and said he had to stop and ask about it. It was sitting in the man's garage on cinder blocks. After speaking with the owner he learned the car had been sitting just as it appeared for almost 10 years. He had rebuilt the motor, changed the gears, basically trying to turn it into a street car for the drag strip. But then his health took a nose dive and he hadn't touched it in years. So we made him an offer and he gladly accepted. When he pulled into the driveway I instantly feel head over heals. Now, I have had several green cars in my life, but they always seemed to leave me sitting on the side of the road, or ended up in the junk yard torn all to pieces. So I asked him, what are you going to do with that? He said, i'm gonna fix it up a little and sell it. I gave him the most horrible look and said, that car is NOT leaving this yard. But I want to paint in Pewter Silver. So off to the body shop it went. And when it came home it was Pewter Silver. Just for me. I have learned everything anyone could possibly know about a first gen monte before the car ever left the trailer. the entire interior has also or is in the process of being converted. Thanks to fellow club member Mike Britcha who had everything I needed to convert from bench seat to buckets and changing the color of the dash and door panels. Now the inside is grey & black. It is still however at the shop waiting for conversion of column shift to floor shift and installation of new console. I so can not wait for my baby to come home. It's been 2 years now and I've missed my ride because of all the restoration and changes. So glad she will be coming home very very soon.
  7. I don't know. the old belts were removed when the interior was completely redone
  8. Hey folks! I had the interior redone in my 72 a while back. I changed from a bench seat to bucket seats and changed from column shift to floor shift. When I had the headliner redone I had the shoulder belt removed. I am now looking for 2 retractable lap belts. Do any of you folks have any suggestion on where I can find retractable lap belts that won't cost me almost as much as having the interior redone? I couldn't use my original ones as now the interior is black and my belts were green. Does anyone have a set they are willing to part with? Unfortunately I can't get a state inspection without the lap belt so until I find a set, I can' drive my pride & joy. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
  9. I'm trying to keep the car as close to original as possible so I don't want to change the tranny. Really just looking to change the stall. I have looked into the gears and I do currently have a 3.73 rear in the car. I'm looking for a daily driver combination. Although I know it's got one heck of a cam in the car because it's got one heck of a lop to it in gear. Going to call the previous owner and see if he has the paperwork on the motor rebuild so I know what cam is in the car.
  10. I would like some opinions about my 72 Monte. I currently have a 350 motor (we believe to be bored .30 over), with a TH350 transmission that has a 1200 stall converter. Right now I'm in 3rd gear by the time I hit 30mph, I'm turning 3,000 rpm at 60mph. (all the while watching the gas gauge drop). I was told by the previous owner that the rear is a 3.73 (series 3). I want to change the stall and dropping the gears down. What combination do you think I should go with? I can't afford to go "top of the line", but I don't want to go "cheap" either. Ex: what stall, what gear ratio, which brand converter/gears etc. Your input is appreciated. Thanks
