Nice job Bruce. Your pictures are very inspiring for me. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours
-
shoot, I wanted to see strippers
Sorry here you go Sam
-
Is there any brand that you would recommed.
-
No matter what it is going to be messy. I figured with a stripper it would clean up a little easier. only the floor to clean. With sanding it will be over everything. I could build a screen around the car though out of plastic and that would keep all the dust off the shelves
-
It's not what you were thinking so get your minds out of the gutter. LOL. I was wondering your input on paint strippers. I want to get the car down to metal. Sanding all the paint seems very messy. I was thinking of stripping first and then hitting it with a DA. You all have nice cars what worked the best for you

Great thanks. They have a lot of things I will be needing. It looks like they are close enough that I may be able to pick things up if they allow that

Has any one used Lutty's Chevy Warehouse. They seem to carry a lot of things

Yes I was talking about the bezels not the fender extentions. They looked the same but I was not sure if they were. You know how GM can be. Looks the same but slightly different. Thanks for your help
-
Ok thanks Bob
-
Are the 71 and 72 headlight bezels the same??
-
I know that I am new to the first gen's but dose soff seal make those??
-
so my best bet is to remove the head liner and leave the frame intact. I was not going to replace until the car was painted. Do the rods go through the headliner or are they glued to it??
-
Thanks for all your tips. I got a tool from Bob (bobsmc)and went at it with that and a razor knife. I got it out in one piece.
-
Tomorrow my son and I are going to remove the console, rear inside trim and the quarter glass along with the head liner. I feel a couple of metal rods going from side to side. Is it as simple as pulling down the rubber trim around the edge and slipping out the rods?? Is there any special technique used in pullind off the rubber trim around the edge. It appears as though it is just wedged on there.
-
I'm looking to take out the rear glass. What is the best method or should I place a call to a glass company?? From what I have researched it is almost as cheap to bust it and have a new installed than try to save it having them come out removing it??
-
Thanks. Is the link working?? I can't seem to make it work and have tried to delete and recopy but it seems messed up.

My son and I started the restoration Christmas weekend 12-26-09. The motor and tranny have been removed. The motor has been rebuilt. We started on the body. Most of the chrome has been removed, doors gutted, seats removed. Contacted Leo and getting ready to tackle the trunk pan. Many more posts to come. Here is a link with what has been done so far.

Thanks. I think I got a good deal too. $35 for both??
-
As it turns out I bought what the seller was saying was the sail script and the script on the rear. Both were what he said was for a 72 but when I got them today they are for a 71. Both were NOS I'm glad I took the gamble.
-
Thanks. Looks like I will have a nos rear script for a 72 for sale

My bad. The word Monte Carlo just below the trunk lid by the chevrolet emblem. Not the crest around the lock cylinder
-
Is the Monte Carlo emblem on the trunk lid the same for 70-72??
-
My 71 has those. It was built 9-70. Must have been left overs.
