  1. Paul bell, not sure what you mean by strap type, I have a set of u bolt style that seem to at least fit the holes on the diff yoke. Mc1of80, so really if I could find a drive shaft from a th400 I should be ok, is that what you mean? I can't seem to find anywhere around me that shortens drive shafts
  2. Here's another question, why is it on the 10 bolt I took out of the car this driveshaft u-joint doesn't work in it either? My issue is the cup size, they over hang on the yoke of the diff by maybe a 1/4 inch each side, could be less and that's the same for the 12 bolt and 10 bolt I have at the side of my house. This driveshaft is out of my origanl monte carlo 70 350/350 10 bolt. If it's the wrong shaft, I am not sure how or what shaft to use.
  3. Ok so that's one option, getting a conversion u-joint. Now, the rear of the car is on the ground, the front of the car was lifted so the rear axle was sitting completely where it needs to be. So in terms of length, the shaft is almost completely bottomed out in the transmission. I am not used to That, usually there is room for you to push the shaft into the trans to aid in removing from the rear axle. Can anyone tell me if the drive shafts for a 10 bolt are longer then for a 12 bolt?
  4. Hey everyone, I was trying to get my drive shaft in today, first thing I noticed is it was a really tight fit between the transmission and rear diff. Next, the rear u-joint is to big to fit into the axle yoke. It's a 12 bolt out of a 70 monte, I am a 402 big block with a th350 (I know it's a small trans) The drive shaft is out of my probably monte I had far as ago, that was a 10 bolt open axle. Any info would be great! Thanks.
  5. Thanks Robert, I double checked, it's all hooked up right so I think I might have a bad switch, I've ordered a new one, so I'll update as soon as I get it installed! Thanks for your help thus far, I'll keep you posted
  6. So that's a different style wiper motor than what I have, I'll have to take a picture of mine, and I'll post it here! I did get my dash lights fixed other than some bad light sockets, also had the hvac light socket ground touching the 12 volt live back feeding through the ground. I think I may also have a bad wiper switch, I'll post a picture of mine and I'll see if I switch is maybe causing my issues.
  7. Hey Robert, so same instructions I have, on my wiper motor where the black white and light blue wires go, I have one terminal attached to the wiper motor above the 3 that's not used, same as You?
  8. Thanks for the reply guys. Robert, they are the regular peanut bulbs (194) I did follow the wiring diagram, I will double check everything when I get back there tomorrow. As for the wipers, there was no instruction for the recessed park, the diagrams that came with the kit are for Chevelle, would you happen to have a picture? Dan, thanks for the tip, I'll do that to all the bulb sockets before trying again!
  9. Hey everyone, so I installed the American autowire classic series update harness in my car, everything is working perfectly so far, accept my dash lights, when I tried to see if they worked I only had one light bulb light up in the dash, and right after that it burned my switch out, I've got a new switch, looked up a few things on the net that talked about adding a good amount of grounds to the rear of the cluster to a good body ground, I've done that, my printed circuit board is new, made sure all the bulbs were Good, made sure all my wiring was Good, everything checks out, anyone have any other ideas as to why this happened? I'll be going to try this new switch again this weekend, hoping maybe someone can shed some light maybe??? Also, I am having a problem with my wiper motor, I benched tested it completely and it worked Perfect, I've got it hooked up, and when I turn the key On, wiper switch in off position, the wiper motor started to run, i had to unplug the switch to get it to stop. I know i dont have the switch itself grounded which i have to do, maybe thats my issue? any ideas on that? Also how can you tell if the wiper motor has recessed park or not? These wiring diagrams aren't the greatest I find Thanks everyone, really appreciate it Hopefully in the next week I'll have my new rad and fans and post a video of it finally running!!!
  10. Thanks a lot for the info Dale, I have got another set of brackets coming and a different style pump. So fingers crossed this time
  11. My black brackets look just like the last picture, but the hole (open) is on the top side not the bottom, my brackets are after market
  12. Dale thanks for the pictures, where did you get the after market brackets? I have not seem any like the ones you have
  13. Ok guys, I can't seem to figure this out 100%. I have a 1970 monte Carlo, I have a 396 big block, bored 30 over (402). I have a power steering pump which I was told was right for my application. I have two sets of brackets, and neither work. I have attached photos. The black brackets are the two piece design for a long water pump, it makes the pump sit out way to far to make the belt line up. Steel brackets are a three piece, which now sits my pump up against the steering box. I know there are two different styles of pumps, one that I have (pictured) and one with a skinny neck for the resivor, do I just have the wrong pump? Anyone have any ideas, or someone that has a 396 in their monte that can help me? Thanks everyone
  14. For everyone who is in need on the seals for the outside rear quarter glass, I have found a place that I believe makes them, and does have them in stock, found on eBay, the sellers name on eBay is fusickautomotive. Great response time, soon as I get these pieces in, I will post pictures, but as of now, I think this is a pretty good place. I know Dale and I were talking and he showed me an old thread talking about these, so hopefully these work out for me, so they'll work out for everyone else. Cheers and merry Christmas
  15. Thank you for the pictures, I have realized I am missing the entire roof rail that holds the weather stripping on both sides so I have to order those pieces after Christmas
  16. 71montecarlomd I was trying to forward the message to you but I can't figure out how. So hopefully Dale sees this and can help you out. Another question thought here are some pictures from that Video, trying to figure out if I am missing pieces or not. So in the pictures, where the red arrows are, not the chrome trim, but the green, is the lower piece part of the body with a chrome trim attached? The rear piece(upright) is that a trim piece to take up the gap from the window to the outer body? On my car there is a gap between the window and outer body I can almost fit my hand in. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and merry Christmas
  17. So thank you to Dale,he sent me a video of a how to which is perfect, but in seeing that, I am missing the trim that goes around the window openings to hold the roof rail weather stripping, does anyone have a set kicking around that I can buy???? I'll also post pictures of what else I think I am missing around the quarter Windows, I believe I am missing filler pieces to close the gaps.
  18. Hey everyone, so I am having some trouble fitting the weather stripping on the 70 monte. I've got the doors done, but the "roof rail" I can't seem to figure out, I don't know how the weather stripping attaches to the body. Secondly, the front window felts and the quarter window felts, the new ones I got don't seem to line up properly, and I know there is an inside and outside, but the outer one doesn't seem to line up, screw holes in the door vs to moulding. Next at the quarter Windows towards the back, where the drip rail comes straight down, there is a massive gap between the window where I can see inside the car. Anyone have a close up pictures of these to help me out? Or is there a write up here I have missed? Thanks everyone, and merry Christmas to all!
  19. That's awesome, thank you guys very much
  20. Would you happen to know which bracket to use?
  21. Hey everyone. I am trying to figure out a bracket to use to hold the turbo 350 kick down cable, the throttle cable on on a 396. I have a holly 4 barrel on a edelbrock Victor Jr 454-0. I have a few brackets at home, but none of them seem to fit right either on the intake or wrong size for the 350 Anyone have a close set up to this with pictures? Or parts?
  22. Ok so I have to ring this thread back to life haha. I have found a 70 monte carlo 12 bolt rear end for sale near me in ontario. Question is, are the rear drum brakes the same from my 10 bolt to the new 12 bolt? Thanks

That's obviously a state side company right? Do you mind me asking roughly how much they cost?

I have got a 396/402 that is going in my 70 monte and I am wondering which headers will fit, looking to get a set of long tunes. Any advice?
  25. It's a 70. But I have talked with antique chev and I have ordered the proper shifter as assembly for the car. Now it's just a waiting game. Thanks everyone for your input and advice! Much appreciated
