  1. Thanks for the response Thanh, I am not gonna mess with that one. I just picked up this Comp Cam and it calling for at least a 2500 stall. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=108&sb=2
  2. Is there anyway to physically look and tell if it's a stall converter? You know like if you were holding it in your hands?
  3. OK this is what I got Comp Cam Mutha Thumper 12-601-4 CS 287th 107. Lift 490/475 Items needed new Valve springs and at least a 2500 Stall. Correct? Will my 3:42 gears be suffice?
  4. This guy had all of those items for sale for $150 brand new in boxes and I call him this morning while he was at work, I asked him to call me as soon as he left work to pick them up from him. I called him back and he said someone was already on their way to get them . Oh well.....
  5. Will these work for me? 71 Monte. Headers, Intake, Holley 650. Automatic, Stock 350/350 going with 3:42 rear gears. Street cruiser, occasional . http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-CL12-242-2/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-986-16/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-740-16/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-611-16/ WHAT ELSE WOULD BE NEEDED? ROCKER ARMS? ETC
  6. It's great that you got to drive your Monte. Man I can't wait to just get mine back together.
  7. Thanks Mike. Really appreciate the answer. I'm glad I asked first. I was gonna get them brand new for $230 and looking on Summit's website that was a deal that I wasn't gonna let pass.
  8. Will these work with my Monte? 350/350, Headers and intake, Will have a 12 bolt with 3:42 gears. Basically for street driver use and just in case It says beginning year 1986, that's the reason for the question. I can get this setup for a really, I mean really nice price. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-10185071/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-17120735/
  9. Hey you're local. What part of Cleveland?

  11. Thanks Aaron. I also want to thank you for the info on your friend Cory's modification of the mirrors. His looks excellent.
  12. I started modifying my mirrors today. I got the mirrors from a 1984 Cutlass. This is just a rough draft right now but it is coming along really well. I grinded the base to form to the door and then retapped the holes with the same screws that came on the mirror. I just have to make the base gasket better. Here are a couple of pics. What do you all think of the progress so far?
  13. Originally Posted By: 502ci Nice job on the wheels and also finding the two tires at a discount price... Thanks guys. The trim rings does have a few dings in them but I'm gonna try to work them out.
  14. Redid the 15x8s today. They didn't turn out as good as the other set I did, but they'll work. Thought I'll post pictures of the paint that I used as well, just in case someone wanted to know.
  15. Found out through Melling's Tech Department that the part# c-700-p was superseded to 22400 and it is a mechanical cam with 493/511 lift with 108 lobe center. I was told this was too much for my car and what I wanted. Anyone interested in this cam it can be had for $50 shipped. The lifters are hydraulic so I will be keeping them.
  16. The guy I got it from said it was for all Chevy small blocks. The guy said his father had this cam since the 70s. The box had Melling high performance camshaft on it but no part#
  17. I came across this cam with a set of TRW part # VL66RH lifters. Eight of the lifters got M01 after the part # and the other eight have D91N after the part #. The cam itself has numbers on it as well. Can someone tell me what I have? The top number looks like C1 or CN followed by 700p and the bottom number looks like a big C with a m in the middle of it and then H261 Here's a picture of the end of the cam:
  18. Thought I'll throw a couple pics of the new setup before I restore them. Finally found two more tires. These were brand new for $190 for both Here are a few pics of one of the wheels. I have a can of the VHT Chevy Rally Wheel Paint left so I will be painting them soon.
  19. Those will look nice, I just did the same thing but with 245 tires on my 72. Are those the Vette 8-inch rallys with 4 inch backspacing? If so, be prepared for some rubbing issues with those 255 tires. I had rubbing issues with my 245/60/15 tires I just put on my Vette rallys. You will likely have to bend in the lip on the quarter panels. There are also clearance issues on the front if you have old springs. Your car looks like it sits pretty high so you might be fine. Just a heads-up. Thanks Aaron. I picked up two 255/60/15 BFGs today for $80. They are very nice with 10/32's tread. Now I've got to find two more.
  20. I sold my rally setup today for $450 and picked up some AZ coded 15x8 They are painted black but I still have a unused can of VHT Chevy rally paint so I will be painting them shortly. I have to pick up some more tires, so I will be going with some 255/60/15 BFG's. There is a guy that has two brand new ones for $200. Is that a good price for two of them? I will post pics when I refinish the 8's..... Rodney
  21. I am so sad to hear this. Prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace. It is always sad when someone we know and care about leaves us this way.
  22. Wow I didn't know that I thought someone had just put them on there. I had never seen those on a Monte before. Which year were they optioned?
  23. I think that would look great with that color you have.
