  1. Traced the drain to the alternator...... simple effective easy fix lol . Thanx for the posts. !!!
  2. No the battery is new and I've already had it checked by 2 different places. I appreciate the idea though
  3. Thanks I'm gonna try that this weekend; thanks
  4. No It has no radio or any other additional electronic system of any kind.
  5. Hi my 72 monte carlo was the subject of an engine transpant. It now has a 350 ci from an '85 chebby truck . there is a steady power drain on my battery, and always has been since, I was hoping you guys might have an answer for me: so here's what I know.) There was a bit of an electrical problem before, but it involved my external voltage regulator being at war with my internally regulated alternator. I just unplugged the external one and it seemed to work almost flawlessly so far; exept for this drain. I've never had any other engine in this car as I bought it with no engine. Anyone have experience with this problem? please let me know thanks -Adam
  6. I suppose a 3.08 gear ratio would be considered a high ratio set wouldn't it? so taking it easy for..... one hundred miles............. Omg that's disapointing lol. Thanks though I'll be sure and change the lube .
  7. Got it thanks guys,It's a beauty too. works like a charm so far, now just need to install. does anyone know the kind of break-in process new 3.08 gears need before they're good to go? P.S. Thanks to all the knights here for lending aid
  8. Thanks guys. I guess I was using my muscle instead of my fat XD, I'll try it again this afternoon, and keep y'all posted. Thanks.
  9. I'm currently building a 12 bolt rear for the monte, when I went to install the crush sleeve ( everything is ready ); exept for the *^%& crush sleeve. I can't for the life of me seem to get it to start crushing. I mean, I know I put every ounce of muscle I had into it with 4 foot cheater bars no less. I'm a younger guy and this is my first time doin this. I'm sure you guys know though. Any advice? thanks -Adam. p.s. i have an inch pound torque wrench and have been measuring the pinion after every attempt, I can't seem to get it over 5 inch pounds, it needs to be at around 25. ...?
  10. When I was researching my monte's 12 bolt rebuild Moser engineering told me that C-clip eliminators were a race only setup, and that if you drove it on the street the cornering would eventually wear a (hole?) in the seals letting rear end lube leak out. let me see if I can find the page. here's the page: http://www.moserengineering.com/moser/faq/#answer6 Can I use c-clip eliminators for street use? A. We do NOT recommend using C-Clip Eliminators for street use; a C-Clip Eliminator is made for drag race only ( As a safety issue so you do not loose an axle, if it breaks ).C-Clip Eliminators are made for the straight shot down the strip. If you use C-Clip Eliminators on the street the aluminum block will eventually flex from cornering or just going around curves causing the C-Clip Eliminator to leak Rearend fluid. Probably wasn't the cause of your problem but it sounded similar. hope this helps -Adam
  11. Also I need to get c clips for the axles, I'm not sure which ones to get (or the size thereof) anyone have a tip?
  12. Thanks for the tips, I'll go with the conventional oil then thanks guys.
  13. I bought a Detroit Tru Trac differential for my 12 bolt rear and 3.08 richmond gears; Richmond says nothing but synthetic oil for their gears and Eaton(Detroit) says no synthetic oil for the diff'. frankly I don't know what to do. Has anyone else ever had an issue like this? what should I do? Thanks-Adam P.S. My brother says to use what he calls "magic pot" and go through the nearest salvage yard draining all the rear ends, mix it up and just use that.... I'm not doing that.
  14. Thanks so all I gotta do is go buy a shell and build it up. thanks again guys I appreciate it.
  15. speaking of which, I hate to change the topic but do you guys know what four speed tranny the monte carlo had? I was talking to a automotive specialist as he was working on a 72 chevelle in his shop, and he told me that the hardest thing he was doing to it so far was modifying it to fit a muncie, and that its year model called for a saginaw. I'm just curious, thanks.
