  1. Nice work Kelly,so how tough is it to replace the body bushings without removing the body? I'm planning on tackling the same..........

    leaking oil!

THX, Dennis & everyone who responded. Great info!

    leaking oil!

Having both sounds great, are you then using a mechanical gauge?
  4. Murphy

    leaking oil!

So it IS the same unit whether a gauge or the idiot light is installed? So you basically have 2 wires going to this sensor?

    leaking oil!

Does this sensor get changed when an oil pressure gauge is installed?
  6. I've developed an oil leak, at first I thought it was proably the rear main seal as it is dripping motor oil between the motor and the tranny. With the frontend up on ramps its actually running thru the plastic shroud at the bottom front of the TH350. The car sat for years, that's why I'm not surprised when stuff happens. But upon further inspection, it appears to be leaking from the oil sensor\sending unit behind the distributor. No gauges just idiot lights in this car....Has anyone else ever seen this issue or must I keep digging?
  7. Outstanding info! The aluminum is pocked in places of the water jacket, Since I'm confident that I do NOT have a grounding issue in my car, I won't worry about it then, never having an aluminum intake before or should I say not ever seeing the results of a used aluminum intake.....I had to ask.
  8. Well I bought this used Performer for $40 last nite, it looks in great shape. Nice and clean, no scratches, etc....with one exception, the water jacket area. I was really surprised to see how the aluminum had been eaten away by the coolant? Is this common to aluminum intakes? Is there a coating that can be applied to slow down this corrosion?
  9. Good point, Mike. Monte's just a weekend cruiser.
  10. A local guy is selling several intake manifolds, Edelbrock Performer and Performer RPM & a Procomp 3207. After reading the info on each on Edelbrock's website, does my SBC 350, Qjet 4-barrel and Patriot headers warrant the RPM model?

    Valve covers

    Great info guys, thx!

    Valve covers

Groovy! I just hope I have the clearance for the AC bracket now that I've given it a better look........

    Valve covers

OK......should you have a breather on both sides? I'm getting a pair of used Edelbrock v/c that are finned.
  14. This might sound goofy for some of the gearheads out there, but on my SBC350 I want to replace the valve covers as the stock steel ones are pretty boring....The drivers side cover has the oil fill cap and the breather tube from the charcoal canister, most valve covers that I've looked at from Jegs or Summit, etc only show one hole in the valve cover. Is there a way to combine the breather & oilfill cap or what do you do??
  15. Thx guys, I've got a spare extension just needs painted......
  16. Yep, thanks......Another ??? Will the flywheel/bellhousing from a '66 chevelle 327 work on my 350?
  17. Are the rear fender extensions pot metal? Can they be welded on? I have a broken/cracked mounting post which appears to be pot metal but not sure if the entire extension is pot metal...
  18. Does the flywheel need to be changed when converting from a TH350 tranny to Muncie M20?? Working on a deal with a local guy who believes I need his flywheel also...SBC350 motor. THX
  19. That's an excellant website Davey..........if vortec heads were installed, do you know if the existing headers still work??
  20. Yes, I have that info but is the reason for the term "wide ratio" because the spread from 1st to 2nd is higher on the M20?
  21. M20 are considered a wide ratio and the M21/22 are a close ratio........does this refer to the difference in gear sizes from 1-2-3-4?
  22. With 1.5" drop springs, how much does it actually lower the car?
  23. General question for everyone???? What determines exhaust pipe size? Should BB's be 3+" and SB's 2.5" for example? I have a stock 350 inwhich I will be converting to Patriot headers & dual exhaust, will 3" pipes be too big for proper back preassure or am I over thinking the situation?
