  1.

The interior color is a three digit number.

Robert, the interior code is 731 which is covert, but that's for the seats. The color i"m looking for is the dash and kick panels.

  2. Looked at the cowl tag, really doesn't tell me the color code. The closest color match I found was something called "bluebird brown". I gonna go with it and see how it turns out.

  3. Hello,

I'm installing new kick panels with the speakers, and want to paint them. Its a brownish / color, can anyone here tell me the color code or name of the color? It's a 72.

    Thanks.

  4. Hello all,

I have a question (I always seem to have one) recently my horn stopped working, I only hear a "clicking" when i hit the horn button. I don't like nor I'm very good with electrical issues. What are some of the points I may want to check first, My first thought was horn relay, but not sure.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Abe

  5. Had my interior redone about a year ago and experienced similar issues as you taller folks, I'm only 5'8. I corrected the issue by having the shop shave off some foam from the bench seat and added track extensions, about 1.5 - 2 inches. At first it was still a bit tighter than I would have liked it, but now with some ware the seat has soften up to more comfortable position.

I like Murphy's idea for the seat extension.

  6. To hijack this thread.....What slots are the rods supposed to be in? Apparently mine are too tight because the trunk lid will fly up when opened. I haven't crawled in there yet as my trunk is full for winter storage and the car is buried in the garage.

Good question. Mine are in the middle slot and springs up pretty good, which slot would reduce the tension?

  7. Bruce, great write up, dig the pictures. I remember I had the body guy install mine and used the wrong gasket. I re-installed it myself, the nuts were a pain to tighten as you mentioned. Oh and had more than a few scraches on my hands. Overall I think its well worth it, kinda balances out the car someway, not to mention the safty feature.

  8. Hey Abe,

Well I finally got around to installing my new trunk torsion rods.  Here is an overview of what I learned:

    - You do not have to empty everything out of your trunk like I did.  I did all of the work from the rear of the car.

    - There is a LEFT and RIGHT side torsion rod so I would recommend that you figure out which one goes where before you start.

    - Don't take the 2nd original one out until you replace the first one.  You can use it as a reference if needed.

    - The only tools needed are a light and a (2) Vise Grips.

    - Use one Vise Grip to hold the trunk lid open while you are working.  The 2nd one will be used when applying tension to the rod at the end.

    - When you install the rod, insert the smaller end in the bracket first, then get the larger end in place and then apply tension to the smaller end last.

    - It took about 20 minutes to install the first rod (because I had to figure it out first) and then about 10 minutes to do the second rod.

    - The aftermarket rods do not have as much spring in them as the original so you may have to use the "highest tension" slot when installing.

Hope this helps.  I made some videos of the process but have not had time to post them yet.

    Good luck!!

    Mike,

Thank you for the right up on this. I'm more of a visual person, so yes pictures and videos would be very helpful to me. One question, what do you mean you did the work from the rear of the car? I'm still shopping around for the rods, those things are pricey (I think) 75 - 45 per set.

    Thanks again,

    Abe

  9. Hello all,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this.

One of the trunk tension rods broke (driver side) trunk will not stay up. Is this something that can be replaced and installed fairly easy? I've heard that it can be a pain. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Abe

  10. I have skirts on mine with no issues. The skirt itself sits about half way on the centercap (2" lowering springs) as far I know the wheel size is 15x7 originals. See the sig pic.

  11. Sam,

So you would place this shut off valve "inline" on the hose leading into the heater core? If possible could you post a picture of the set up.

    Thanks.

    Arron,

Are you saying that '72 do not have heater control valves?

  12. I will look into the valve to see if its operating right. If not I may opt for the water shut off valve.

First Gen - both seals are new, replaced about 2 years ago.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions.

  13. Hello all,

I have a question: I've recently notice that when driving around in the Monty, it's been getten pretty warm / hot in the interior, I'm guessing from engine heat.  Is this normal for our cars? What can be done to reduce this problem?

    Thanks,

    Abe
