as you know i have started a frame off restoration i wanted to know what kind of suspension should i go with i want new A arms front suspension springs rear A arms bushings all the other stuff i woul like to have just like a complete bolt on front and rear I want to get it all at the same time to fom one place if at all possibile.

Speaking of good work I painted it chevy red with put clear coat which really made the valve covers stand out some of the new parts A new dual plane eldebrock manifold, Thermal carb spacer (its made out of some kind of plastic) and flowtech headers we are getting them coated but we wanted to be able to beat on them with out it without hurting the coating and the guy thats doing it can do a better job than the flowtech people and to go with that were going to get some stainless steel header and manifold bolts and all the other bolts to hopefully.

got all the parts to the engine new manifold, Flowtech headers, new pro select water pump, a very heavy starter and a equally heavy stall converter 2200 to 2600 rpm I thought it was just 2000 but I was wrong. body bushings and stainless tubing has also arrived I'm just waiting for the weather to clear up enough to media blast the chassis but drivers Ed has kept me busy since its private its on week ends.

got the engine back its painted and clear coated I decided on a bigger cam 186 instead of the L 79 and i have a bunch of parts on the way.

And what is the absolute best #1 rust profing rust preventative i want to do it one time so i want to rust proof every where where water or moisture can get... I hate rust and its not allowed in my car.

would the body need to be braced so it does not shift or any thing like that? and does any one know whre to get a complete stainless steel bolt kit for the hole carcan be bought for like the body, front end, engine compartment, fenders,hood trunk lid I would like to get it all at one time.

well I found a mix of both im having the engine rebuilt taking it there on monday we talked with mike and he is going to let me watch and hes going to get the parts he said he will put a L 79 cam in there and it should have 325 HP or better. and me and my grand dady were wondering we already have the front end off and it would be nice to take the body off the frame put brand new fuel and brake lines new gas tank redo the suspension and gut the interior. then we wil do all the rust repair body work and get every thing back together and get it painted every where.

my grand dads only concern is that some thing goes wrong and the clyinder wall gets scored and we will have nothing to fall back on or if some thing else goes wrong and then what we lose money.

okay i try to learn as much as i can before messing with any thing especialy since i have never done this stuff before.

so just line up the new one where the old one was check the gap and weld it in place right theres no bracing or any thing like that right. does the quarter panel come with instructions?

how would you put the quarters on any way.

i have not forget jared im just geting it to move again and my welders not set up yet i have to get the electriction up the street to fix that.

okay you have not had any problems with building them your self have you? and what kind of crank shaft pistons cam push rods rocker arms ect do you recommend i want a good sounding deep agreesive rumble with plenty of horse power and torque. i will be driving the car a good bit and im taking private driving lessons in december and both my mom grand dad grand mother are great drivers ( my grand dad has done some crazy stuff before like going thru trafic cones on a high way and has raced in reverse).

what is your opinions on warrantys as far as the engine being rebuilt i have about a 1000 for it now theres a shop that can do the heads and all the internal engine work with a waranty. its a bit more expensive but i like the fact that if some thing happens he will take car of it if its any thing hes done i now hes trusted because he does school bus engines for the schools. The other idea is to see what you guys or girls recommend theres no problem with me and my grand dad building the engine wich he has done plenty of times theres just no warrenty if some thing goes wrong. should i stick with letting some one else do it or should we do it with yalls advice let me know what you think please .

i have holes all around the wheel well and the lower parts are rusted bad enough to have holes big enough to stick yor finger tips thru so i thi9nk replacing the quarters would be a good idea. what kind of rust prevenative and other stuff should i use to make a lasting repair.

i also would like to spray some epoxy paint back behind the quarter panel so that wont rust again and there wont be any future problems.

i have rust damage to both right and left side quarter panels the lip that holds the rear wheel house trim is gone and the left side has extra holes for screws to hold the lower trim on. i was wondering if I should have them replaced or repaired?

where do you get stainless steel front end bolts?

i dont know if you have tried this or want to try this but theres aluminum bondo thats a mix of bondo and liquid aluminum and its just like bondo spreads good and is as hard as nails when it dryed. and as far as know its a rust proof thing because the aluminumcan rust and it bonds so well i dont think water can get to the steel if its done write.

sorry about your transmission my monte was shifting good and running good for a while until the bearings in the engine made more noise and the fuel pump whent out so we decided to rebuild every thing and got a steal ... $ 350 for the transmissin being rebuilt with a nice pan and a warrenty to. just remeber every thing happens for a reason and a transmission going out is not the worst thing that could happen.

yeah I have my hole front end off of my monte carlo pobly should replace the rusted yellow bolts on my car

decided to go with 8 inch rally wheels the ones on the monte now are 7 inchand there free came on my dads truck off a corvett and hes going to take my american racing rims to have and sell with the truck and i get new rims and my grand dads taking my monte wheels for his classic when he gets one.

so thats why more people use soda blasters than sand blasters ... that also explains why it was on sale okay thanks for the tips and no warped panels.

i heard of this stuff called red line antifreez aditive that can make the engine run cooler i cant remember if it was 20 degrees cooler or 20% cooler. any one used it or some thing like it? did it work or is it not worth even looking at just curious
