  1. Ok so after lots measuring, cutting and welding the rear bumper is done. Bolts shaved, added diffuser, tightened quarter panel gap, and my favourite part...Center exit exhaust. Now to finish the front bumper!
  2. Thanks! The stock location tank will work with some modifications to bumper mounts and I also plan on running the pipe through the frame rather than under to clean up the look under the car. Here are some hellwig frame box pics as well
  3. So the bumper treatments continue... the rear this time. I wanted to bring it up and I closer to the body, shave the bolt holes and add a bit of race car flavour. I made some exhaust tips and built a diffuser into the bumper. These pics are where I am at now. Should finish it up this weekend
  4. Thanks for compliments on my build guys! I have been working on my front bumper this week. Got the bumper where I want it and just cut out 3/4 of a an inch off both sides. Will have some more massaging to fit where I want it. I hope to have it welded up this weekend so I can start working on brake cooling ducting. My boy unpacked those parts today for me...
  5. The drip rails are removable if you don't mind cutting them off and welding the roof skin to the underside structure! It's a lot of work but looks awesome!
  6. So after getting the engine and trans in, it was time to put the fenders back on and make it look like a car again. It's been a couple years since I have had this thing looking like a car! The next step is to cut down the bumpers for a tighter fit. I have parts on order for brake cooling ducts and air filters for the throttle body. Time for fun fab!
  7. So progress has been made...I put the 6.0 ls attached to my t56 in the car for mock up after I cut hole in the floor to make Room for the much taller tranny. I was glad to see that the motor mounts and headers fit great too!
  8. So the mirrors are 2012 Camaro and the dash is 2005 grand am that has been widend from side to side and narrowed front to back. The steering wheel I orderd from summit racing and is a billet specialties piece.
  9. Set my windshield in and put the mirrors back on. Looks pretty smooth and clean across the roof line. The last pic is showing the rear marker light.
  10. Thanks! He is gonna get a 5.3 and 700r4 for now. If money was no object a twin turbo ls and t-56 6spd would be the plan. Maybe someday!
  11. So went to the bodyshop today and this is what I saw! Zeus is coming home for Christmas with a fresh coat if high build primer! Looks more sinister in person than the pic shows! Almost want to stay black now! Almost...drip rails, side mouldings and windshield moulding clip mounts are now a thing of the past! I am so happy to see he whole car one color now without rust!
  12. Thanks mcfan! I agreee there needs to be more blue montes! So here is some more grill grill pics I found.
  13. Thanks for the likes guys! As for color it's gonna be Lamborghini blue nethuns just not sure if it's gonna be a solid color or possibly top blue and bottom black. The color is on the hurican below[
  14. The grill isn't billet, I made out of steel! Should eat civics and mustangs with ease!
  15. Thanks guys! I'm sure he will reach the pedals soon enough!
  16. So my 71 had an engine fire and one thing led to another and now a complete custom monte is on it's way... First thing to happen was a custom built grill, welded in cowl induction scoop, 2012 camaro side mirrors and four bucket seats. Next a widened grand am dash with custom Speedhut gauges and frenched side marker lights after the removal of all side mouldings. I then pulled the body off the frame and welded in the helwig frame box in kit. After that all factory sway bars, brakes, diff and the rest of the suspension was removed to make way for some new goodies. Currie 9" with 3:70 and currie trac upper and lower rear control arms, Baer 6p 13" rotors front 12" 4p rears, helwig bars front and rear, varishocks on all 4 corners, spc upper and lower front control arms as well as springs new steering box. For wheels I went with 18x10 Rocket Booster rims on all 4 corners with BFG Sport comp 2 255/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rears. After all the upgrades the rust repair started with replacing the trunk floor, parcel shelf and a couple other patches in the back seat area. The biggest rust issue I had was the roof skin that was rotten under the original vinyl. I found a complete sail panel and roof skin in Montana and stripped it cleaned and painted befor welding in to the car. In the process the drip rails were shaved and smoothed. The car is now at the bodyshop hopefully coming home next week after I sandblasted the whole top of the shell. It will be I'm epoxy at that time. The rest of the mock up parts other mods will done in the coming months so hopefully I can have it track/road worthy for the summer to make sure all these miss will work befor i commit to paint. It's been a lot of work but so worth it to have something my own!
