  1. yeah sam i like your steering wheel too, was the tach swap like plug n play beacuse the guy at opgi told me all i had to do was unplug my clock or somethin and the tach should plug right into the harness and distribitor.but then again the same guy told me that the bumpers in 70 and 71 were the same which of course their not so i dunno whether to believe him or not
  2. andreas im liking your idea more and more but yeah the gto hood tach would be something different and kinda unique
  3. hmm i dunno his car is supposed to be 100% nd he said thats the way his dad bought it new your pry right tho Idc tho I just wanna buy the trim haha
  4. I have the non AC panels in the car cause my SS came with factory air. but im gonna run the gilmer drive setup and cannot run AC so i was gonna take the AC off the car and put the non AC panels on to let more air into the car to keep it cooler
  5. I have a 71. And yeah I thought it was only for a 71 but my friend has a blue 71 and it's 100% bone stock and it has it
  6. haha yeah im debating on whether to drill holes in my hood or not, but i do have a spare blue 70 hood in the garage so I dunno. and the cheapest hood tach ive found is $200 used so im thinkin the in dash tach is what ill pry go with, plus im hoping to find a used fiberglass L88 or cowl hood too and i dont wanna drill holes in that
  7. hmm yeah i was just wondering if anyone has done the in dash clock to tach conversion and if it was just like plug and play and/or how hard is the install but yeah ive thought about getting my clock fixed somehow and going with the hood tach
  8. okay so I found a set of non AC kick panels(they have the vents and the pulls that let in air by your feet) they are out of a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle two door hardtop I have an AC car but cant run the AC setup cause of the gilmer belt drive setup. my dad has these in his 71 RS and they are very nice so i was wondering if these out of a 68 chevelle would be a direct fit to my 71 monte carlo
  9. I was looking through opgi and came across this in dash clock to tach conversion, now I was just gonna put in a autometer tach and call it a day but I like the stock factory apperence look a little better or has anyone tried the on the hood tach off an old GTO? http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-electrical/7946/158/CH26304.html
  10. dang, I was hoping i could buy one, oh well i guess besides i dont think i could use my SS emblem either if i had this piece
  11. alright this is probably a really stupid question but, ive been looking everywhere for the rear chrome/stainless trim piece that goes in between the tailights and above the rear bumper.. im new to the firt gen monte carlo game so i dont even know what its exactlety called other than "3 piece rear molding" any help on where i could buy them or even what their called is appreciated
  12. So i picked up this hurst his&hers/dualgate shifter or whatever you wanna call it on CL for $75 plus a aluminum plate with 2 sunpro(yeah i know..not autometer, but it'll work) electrical gauges, these all fit direct in a 72-81 Camaro console. I have 5 of those consoles in the garage. A blue one, @ black ones, a red one, and 2 saddel ones.. so im thinking about putting this in my monte, I have quite a few shifters in cluding a 2-3 horseshoe shifters, 1 horseshoe shifter for a 700R4, 2 B&M ratchet shifters (th350,700R4) and a quarter stick too.. also about a dozen or so shifters for an 82-92 camaro ( I have parted out 3 of these cars and have EVERYTHING that you can think of...) but im thinking about putting the 78Z console and dual gate shifter in the monte, but im not sure yet. any opinions?
  13. thanks guys yeah ive wanted these wheels ever since I bought the car, at first i was gonna got with the 17/18" combo from yearone.. but im not a huge fan of bigger rims on cars(no offense to anyone)but yeah im going to look at and decide what tires to buy tommorrow and then gonna have em mounted and balanced friday and put em on saturday hopfully...ohios [you said a naughty!] whether pry wont allow me haha
  14. so today i was scanning CL and i came across a guy parting out a 71 camaro most of the car was aleady gone but i bought the 10 bolt(i have no idea why..) and the buckets and horseshoe shifter to put in my monte, the buckets are better than the other ones i had in it, but the console is very nice. I think it looks good... any opinions? before after and i know the carpets dirty and the seats need recovered im workin on it
  15. finally got a pic of the rims up, going to get tires/ wheel paint friday not too bad.. the price was right
  16. so i just grabbed a set of mint 70 Z28 wheels, beauty rings and caps off CL for $130! i thought it was a good deal but i was wondering has anyone put these on their monte carlo and if so did it look good or bad, and i'd like to hear opinions too. http://www.classicindustries.com/images/productimg/3/3989479.jpg http://www.nastyz28.com/faq/wheel/70z-whl.jpg these are what they look like ill post pics of mine tomarrow
