what does this contact do under the key cylinder

i just finished replacing my key cylinder on my 70and thier was a white plastic square tube about 1/4 inch wide by 1 1/2 inches long that had 2 brass contacts bent out of the end that slid under the key cylinder i pulled it out by mistake and pushed it back in about the distance i thought it should be ,everything appears to work but i couldnt remember if i had a key in the cyl. buzzer any ideas what it is and if i could have put it back in wrong. thanks in advance gene

That is the key buzzer indicator switch. When you open the drivers door and the key is in the ignition the buzzer in the horn relay goes off
